I got a Canon Powershot SD400 that came with a USB cord to upload pics to the computer. In order for it to work properly though, you had to install the software. I did and for a while everything went well. Now all of a sudden when I open up the program to upload the pics, its saying Connection to Camera failed. Whyyyyyyy. I dont want to keep having to go to WalMart and whatnot to get pics put on a CD. I have two USB cords [one for my MP3 player], and I think once I accidently put the camera into that. Would that be why? The USB cord for my player still works and transfers music so I dunno what to do. My manual said nothing. Could I uninstall then reinstall the program?

you could try that, or try plugging it into a different USB port or into a different computer - if you are using XP, you dont really need to install their software, XP should recognize that it is a camera
have you tried a different usb cable? the other thing you could try would be to uninstal your USB drivers, reboot and try it again....

is the camera turned on?
Thanks Rob! I went to the Canon site to see if they had a troubleshooting thing, and it had me unplug any other USB cables and turn on my camera. Before I never had to turn on my camera, it just went on automatically when I would plug it in. Works now! :D

I've never had to install software for my Nikon camera- I have a HP PSC (printer/scanner/copier) and the PSC has a camera card dock in the front where you can insert your memory card and have the PSC transfer it to your computer. It has a button next to it to transfer, but I never press it because the pics just automatically come up. Very nifty! :D

USB cords are a bitch. Don't get me started.
