That's happened to me also, with cds as well as dvds. I'd been wanting to replace an old cassette by buying the cd. Finally bought it, and a few months later there was a new "deluxe" edition with extra songs, etc. You just hope you can find someone who'll take your old dvd/cd off your hands (for a price).
