Has anyone gotten this cd yet? It has a bunch of popular artists and bands covering Queen songs. Gavin Degraw, Jason Mraz, Joss Stone, Breaking Benjamin, Josh Kelley, Los Lobos, Sum 41, The Flaming Lips, Ingram HIll, Antigone Rising, Constantine Maroulis (my personal favorite) and lots more. I haven't decided if I like the cd or not yet. I love Queen but these people make their songs completely theatrical and weird. My favorites are Josh Kelley's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," Jason Mraz's "Goold Old-Fashioned Lover Boy," and Constantine's "Bohemian Rhapsody." There the only ones that sound anything like the originals. Constantine's is the most original-sounding (and I'm not just saying that because I like him). But still it's a good cd.

You can listen to clips from it here: http://entertainment.circuitcity.com/Music/Album.aspx?p_id=VA++++++++&a_id=R+++782664&prodid=HWD162522.2&Explore=New+Releases&AvailableDate=2005-08-09+00%3a00%3a00&dcs=1 .

Okay I'm done.

If you want something that sounds like the originals, why not just listen to the orginals?

Well that's true. But I guess what I meant was they sound REMOTELY like the originals. Like "We Are The Champions" and "Under Pressure" are so full of those "oohhhhhhh"s and all of those horrible theatrical filler noises that singers add to songs and it makes it really irritating.

not too fond of the roster. Joss Stone? she was three years old when Freddie died. How about getting some artists who were their contemporaries to do a tribute album.

Sorta like the upcoming Luther tribute cd will predominantly be artists who were his contemporaries, instead of having Ciara or somebody covering his songs.

I've heard the disc, and I must say that I like some of the renditions. Gavin DeGraw's version of "We Are The Champions" is really good, as are The Flaming Lips' "Bohemian Rhapsody," Josh Kelley's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" (a Cars-flavored Queen cover; whodathunkit?) and Rooney's "Death On Two Legs (Dedicated To...)"

The other tracks on the disc don't interest me, so I won't be buying it.

By the way, if you feel nauseous and want to induce vomiting, put on Joss Stone's "Under Pressure." The worst thing to happen to that song since "Ice, Ice Baby."

I would love to get the CD only for Constantine Maroulis' version of Bohemian Rhapsody. :biglove:

Joss Stone successfully ruined my favorite Queen song.
