I like all of those groups, but Loose Ends is one of my all-time favorite groups. I have worn all their CDs out over the years. I love me some Loose Ends  DeBarge is another favorite. My favorite song of their's is "Stay with Me". They put some good stuff out

I like all of those groups also. I have either cds or old cassettes from each of them. My two favorites are the Tonys and Ready For The World. I listen to RFTW almost as much today as I did 20 years ago. DeBarge, Loose Ends and Guy would be on the next level, then Surface and Troop, but I truly like them all.

Ready For The World kicked ass. DeBarge were good too, as were Tony Toni Tone and Surface. I recognize Guy (I remember Blackstreet a lot better) and Troop by name but don't really remember their songs

All of these groups were underrated, and Buffy your're right, RFTW did kick ass! Other than "Oh, Shelia", one of my favorite songs is "Digital Display"

Of course i remember all those groups. Tony Toni Tone, Debarge, Ready For The World are my favorite outta that list. Guy had only one album i liked which is their first one. My favorite songs off their first album is Groove Me, Piece Of My Love, Goodbye Love. I never heard their other 2 albums. I do remember their other hit song Let's Chill. GarfieldKool what's that guy's name that was on Guy's first album on the album cover? I know it isn't Damien Hall who's Aaron Hall's brother. I really wish Tony Toni Tone hadn't broken up. My favorite albums by them are The Revival, Sons Of Soul, House Of Music. Dwayne Wiggins who is Raphael Saddiq's brother has a solo album. I forgot the name of it & i never heard it but i bet it's good because he's a good singer & a good bass guitar player. Raphael Saddiq has out 2 solo albums. I heard his first album Instant Vintage & it's very good. He came out with a album last year called Ray Ray. I haven't heard it but my brother has it. I never heard Tony Toni Tone's first album Who. I wonder if it's any good. I remember their single Little Walter from that album. Ready For The World surprised me releasing 3 more albums after their first 2 albums. I stopped listening to them after their 2nd album. I remember the lead singer Melvin Riley came out with a solo album that has the song What Makes A Man Wanna Cheat On His Woman. I saw the video for that song. El & James Debarge still be singin. They sing on DJ Quik's albums & they were on a skit for The Alkaholics Likwidation album. James also sang on Warren G's albums.

Troop
Debarge

I remember all of them. They had hits in the 80s. I liked Debarge the best- their firsrt 2 albums were among the best of r&B from that era. Troop stands out in my mind for their gheri curl hairdos (Actually I think every one of these acts had the gheri curl thing going on at that time).

I dont remember any of those except Tony Toni Tone and I only remember one song, "Lets Get Down" that was out when I was 8 or 9 lol. Speaking of old rnb groups does anyone remember Zhane? I liked them! What happened to them? I remember "Shame" and some other songs...and they were featured on a lot of singles..."Jamboree"w/Naughty By Nature, "It's a Party" w/Busta Rhymes, etc. I miss them. I miss a lot of rnb groups though...
Zhane, Changing Faces, Boys 2 Men, Dru Hill, 702 (they're still around I guess but no one cares about them anymore haha), En Vogue, Total, The Fugees, XScape, etc........

Some of these groups had very long careers spanning decades. Modern r&B is anti-group. Even Destiny's Child broke up. Now it's all about solo acts or at most a duo like Floetry or the Isleys. Less people = more $$$ for the individuals.

Didn't Terry Riley quit Blackstreet to reunite Guy?

isiahthomas

No Teddy Riley didn't quit Blackstreet to reunite Guy. Blackstreet had a album out last year or the year before that & Teddy was on it. JamesAnthony i agree with you about groups breakin up so much because money is involved & if a group has a lot of people in it, group members don't like the idea of splitting up money with other group members.

Here is another group I forgot: One Way. Anyone remember them? Isiah, I was about to respond to Solomon's stupid post, but it got locked. I'm glad you put him in his place, somebody needed to, because I told him he should have been ashamed of himself for posting that ugly thread.

There we go, I felt like I was stuck in an 80's vault or something. I am old school here. I go as far back as The Stylistics etc. Man, I grew up on Soul Train, when Don Cornelius was the host. Damn, those memories. Being a kid in the 70's (I was born in the 60's) was an awesome time. R&B was so damn HOT. Kool and the Gang "Funky Stuff" "Summertime" etc. Those are grooves!!!!!
