This is being written as a warning for the veterans of the board, as well as those that are only casual visitors....

I do not understand what is going on here. In the past couple of months, there have been a LOT of new traders that have "complete" sets that are missing anywhere from 1 to 50 (YES! FIFTY!) episodes of a show. Or they have "good quality 8.5-9/10" shows with TRACKING ERRORS and AUDIO SYNC PROBLEMS. And we're not just talking 1-2 accidents on the list, we're talking up to half of their lists. Call it an exaggeration. Call it a lie. I call it disgusting. Thoroughly disgusting, and a huge waste of time. I don't know where all these sloppy newbies came from, but they need to get with the program. This is the kind of thing you expect from ebay/auctions sellers. Maybe it's no coincidence that a lot of these newbies sell on auctions frequently in large amounts.

This board needs to re-gain it's honesty and integrity. This is angering quite a few people because several have traded for these "complete" sets only to find out they were in fact INCOMPLETE and missing episodes they were seeking to get. Please quit being sloppy and careless. If you have not THOROUGHLY looked at the quality and completeness of something, then say so. "I don't know" is a lot better answer than a blatant lie.

Here are a few examples:
TOM AND JERRY COMPLETE
DARKWING DUCK COMPLETE
TALESPIN COMPLETE
HEATHCLIFF COMPLETE
SMURFS COMPLETE
.... and there are MANY MORE!

Newsflash: NONE OF THESE SETS ARE COMPLETE! Several of these sets are extremely low quality, almost entirely unwatchable. Some are great quality, but missing a few shows.

There is nothing wrong with having an incomplete set.
There is nothing wrong with having imperfect quality.
There something VERY WRONG with carelessness/misinformation/lies.

If you have not THOROUGHLY looked at the quality and completeness of something, then say so.
I've noticed that too, and not just from newbies and not just here at SO. People seem to assume that the person they get discs from knows what they are doing, and that is often not the case.

Some people say they don't have the time to check every episode of every disc. Then slow down in your trading and FIND THE TIME, and don't put new items on your list until you have, lest you be the one who churns out garbage. Or, if you're simply not inclined to do that, then say so up-front so others know what kind of pitfalls they may encounter by dealing with you and can use that information to decide whether they want to trade with you or not.

To me, sloppy traders, even though they may be honest folk, are BAD traders. After all, what's the real difference between getting zero from a scammer and getting garbage from someone who's sloppy? Nothing.

look if u are talking about me,then u are wrong again.just like u said i had dark wing duck (and i dont),and when i pointed that out to u all u said was oops,(how about im sorry)and just like u read my smurfs wrong show me were i got complete wrote by it.i never said it is complete.and some people do alot of trading and they take other people words on the set being complete and dont watch every episode right away to see if it is.i have never did any thing to u or even traded with u.i think if all these people was doing this on this board there would be alot of people listed as bad traders.remember just cause u got a bad set, it doesn't mean that everyone has the same set.i agree with u on the smurf set, that was going around is a bad set.but some of the episode is good,so you should tell the person that might would want it about what u think is wrong with it,i never would trade with someone and not tell them that a set is good and its not,i will tell them what i see is bad a if they still want it then thats them.some times u got to take the bad with the good(meaning)if u have 300 eps and 200 is good and 100 is bad then thats how it works some time if u cant find nothing no better.for one thing u should know all my stuff is not the same thing that is passes around here.i do make my on stuff.heres an example i had a set of macgyver that i got from a person in my home town,i let wolf get it because he had got a bad set on here,and he owed Lamont a good set,ask him what he think about that set,,he probley say a 9.5 to 10..just cause u get some sets that is junk dont mean the other person has the same set.there is more than 1 person that can make dvds.just think before u speak out on someone like that and try to hurt there rep,i mean if u have a promblem with me thats fine or any one else but u dont lie on them.im through with this subject.just i think saying im sorry would be a good for being worg about what u said about me other than Oops.... :mad:

All my sets are complete with extras that no one else has. Sets are all 25/10, A+++.

Looks like I stepped into the middle of somebody else's disagreement, I didn't realize I was doing that. For the record, my experiences and comments have nothing to do with the sets mentioned above, or the people involved.

Very few people actually make sets, which is one reason it can be so hard to find shows. Unless you personally made the set and it is brand new, then it is unlikely you have anything that is any different from any of the other sets floating around online amongst fans and collectors. You see that kind of malarkey on eBay all the time "exclusive to me, not the same as everybody else's" but of course it's the exact same set.

That gets obnoxious too, especially for people trying to upgrade their collection.

First of all, I agree with Smurf and Lazy, having dealings with both and seen their work, it is honest and excellent. I have learned quit a bit from Lazy and I hope have provided some decent stuff to him.

I am continually learning from Lord Smurf and for that I am grateful and I consider myself a long time trader.

So I can USe that, I am specifically addressing you that if you would stop shouting in ALL CAPS and listen for a bit, the board would be a better place.

the eek set i made is 7/10 but its still the best out there some might rate it like 8 but i think its 7 anything less than 7 is garbage unless its old. i got one set guy said 8/10 i receved absolutly trash skipping tracking all f-ed up but he replaced it so thats cool

Constructive criticism is always in order and is the only way we learn, as no one knows everything.

Problem is I have been out of school for too many years to remember, so if you got something to say, say it but don't lecture me. Lord Smurf comes across as one of my history professors giving me a lecture and in a condescending tone. I don't like when my wife lectures me and I most assurdly don't like it when the Smurf does. Speak to me as a adult, not with you on top of a pedestal telling me the facts of life and how things should be.

I took speeches from my father and my mother because I loved them and knew they cared for me. You don't fit in that category. Smurf deleted his post where he flamed Joey and accused him of offering something which he didn't. The apology consisted of a oops. That's crap, be a man and apoligize if that's possible.

Quality is a personal judgement to the beholder. Personally, I prefer VHS. Most people prefer DVDs. I have completed everything but maybe 1 or 2 series I needed in English. I have been trading since 1995 on-line and have seen traders come and go. The best days of on-line trading were 1996-98. Then all the "download" and CD based items came along.

I don't do a whole lot of video-trading these days, I'm mostly just floating around the forums as free time permits. I spend my time in the French, German, and Japanese groups these days (I'm still out looking for hundreds of Documentary series). I have definately noticed that there are traders slapping downloads and umteenth generation VHS onto DVD and advertising as "A++ quality." Sorry, it doesn't interest me. I prefer good old fashioned 1st-2nd generation VHS, carefully remastered.

For the record, $$$$$ worth of equipment is great to have and use (I have European studio grade equipment), but you can still make very nice quality sets with just one VCR hooked to another. Sounds funny I know, but someone claiming to be a professional video editor with vast amounts of restoration knowledge sends me a series on DVD and it literally was download dumps. Then, I get a trader (16 years old) hook two VCRs together and make me a copy of said series and well...good quality throughout, not perfect, but quite good, I was more than pleased.

Anyhow, on the English market, I have done 90% of my trades over the past year or so here and on Whatevermania. The amusing part is, everyone is so afraid of the "unknown" trader, those without feedback and such. Oddly enough, those have been the best traders that I have dealt with.

the people on Cartoon Preservation Society love to trade crappy quality downloads. Because of the grotesque motion artifacts in lo-motion divx downloads and the unwatchable macroblocking, converted divx downloads look even worse (in my opinion) than VCD on DVD. Two of my last 5 trades on the Cartoon Preservation Society were crappy divx download converts and the result was that I had to throw out the discs.
Malarkey. People like that are banned.
Cheap media, bad quality, overstating quality, etc .... banned.
Bad traders, liars, charlatans.... all of them banned.
As it should be.

Being around for a short time or a longer period doesn't give you a right to treat someone like a idiot. The Good Lord Smurf is entitled to his beliefs but don't stick them down everyone's throat. When I find out he has been annointed by by some holy being maybe, then I'll listen more intently but as long as he stands on the pulpit and screeches out his views, I just don't listen. Just as easy to state your beliefs in a cordial manner.

That is part of the problem here. Management allows all to rant and rave, say what they want, do as they please and the worse that happens is the post gets deleted. Maybe if someone was bounced for flaming this childish behavior will cease,till then it's a rodeo atmosphere.
