I found Geoffrey pretty funny mainly after the first season. His little smart comments had me laughing.

I agree with this. They were all pretty boring in season 1. I think they were all supposed to be boring to show how Will made them more interesting.

Of course they were boring. In the first season they were like cardboard clippings of them selves. Carlton was preppy to the extreme, Will overusing the ghetto slang, Hillary is... well hillary but more corny, Phillip listening to classical music during tea time. As the characters develop and the set gets better of course the show would get better.
