I was emptying the change out of my wallet today and I found a nickel that had an interesting design on the back. It was 2 hands shaking and it said the Louisiana Purchase. I had never seen one like that before and I showed my dad and he didn't either. Well, I did a search and found this article about it.

I was surprised to see this article was from 2003! So, this coin has been around for 2 years and I've never seen one or heard about it. I guess maybe only avid coin collectors would really know about it maybe.

Cool! I need to pay more attention to nickels!

I have a couple of those. They are hard to find though. People get them and hang on to them. I also have one of the Lewis and Clark nickels that came out last year and there is also a new Buffalo nickel that came out recently.

yep, buffalo nickels are being made again. i have one of both designs. i didn't start seeing the louisiana purchase ones until this year.

The only one I saw was the Buffalo nickel.

I have the new buffalo nickel, and tomorrow I'm going to put it in my safe deposit box at my bank.

yea, working in a grocery store for 3 years you see just about every type of coin that is legal

I collect coins. I do only circulated coins which I find in change. Living on the east coast I find it hard to find Denver minted coins. I see so many Philadelphias.

I got a 1936 Buffalo nickel in change just a few days ago at the local supermarket.

Several years ago I got a "V" 1895 nickel in change, but the features are really worn down on it. I also have several of those steel wheat pennies from the 40's.

One time in change I got dollar bills back and they were all old silver certificates. I hold on to all of the old change, and the new recent limited coins too they make today.

Yea, I work in a hardware store and you're right; you see pretty much all the new coins. My bro collects the state quarters cause they're so easy to get.
