Would you have a gun in your house,or somewhere like in your car and if someone was robbing you or they have a gun a pointed at you or someone else would you kill to protect your family,or even you have to be killed to protectyour family in your house?

No brainer, I would kill or be killed if somebody has a gun pointed at my loved ones.

I wouldn't want a gun in my house. I think it would be more likely that there was an accident and the gun killed someone then me actually having to use the gun. I don't think I would have the nerve to kill someone if the situation present itself.

I plan on going into law enforcement as my career, so I'll probably end up having a gun or two.

yep--there is a whole case of them. However, the case is locked and none of the guns are loaded, so beats me what good they would do. But my Dad likes to hunt. Jonathan will end up having an attic full of 'em too,

yes.
i grew up in a home where there were guns- my dad and grandfather collected them. never posed an issue, they were always kept away from me when i was younger and when i was 14 i was taught how to use one safely.

now i hope ill never have to, and i dont intend to ever shoot for sport, hunt, or collect...but id rather know that i can and could defend myself if i had to.

Hellll no!!!!! On the other hand , why are DEFENSIVE weapons such as mace and tazers illegal to own????? I can KILL another person, legally ( Which is something i refuse to do ) , but i cant disable him, to defend myself/my property????? HOW does THIS make any sense????????????

Of course, I'd stand right in front of the person, look them in the eye, and say, "Shoot me mother ****er." - While my husband would be off getting the gun, to blow the bastard away.

No.

And Mikado's arguement makes complete sense. Mace and tazers are illegal, but we can own guns? Whatever.

That's a very good question. I thought you actually could own mace.

I think it depends on where you live. I've seen websites where you can buy tasers, mace, telescoping steel batons and all that good stuff. And I think they have a disclaimer saying you are responsible for checking your state laws to make sure they are legal there.

And no, I wouldn't own a gun. Now a telscoping steel baton that sprays mace and functions as a taser, maybe. :winkgrin

i'm pretty sure theres a difference between actual mace and pepper-spray...the latter of which is legal (i always carry it).

You mean if someone was about to blow your head off and you had a gun and had a chance of protecting yourself, you would let that person blow you away because you refuse to kill anyone?

Anyway, I have my dad's .22 Remmington rifle, in working order, in my house.
My brother used to fire it at a target range and I did it a few times, too. My accuracy was pretty good- hit the target almost in the center.
Neither of us haven't used it for hunting.

There are times when I would feel more comfortable with some kind of hand gun. Like when I'm hiking in the local mountains. There are mountain lions around. I was talking to a hiker on a trail and he said he saw one. Luckily, it ran away in the opposite direction.
I don't feel comfortable knowing that if I encounter a mountain lion, about the only thing I can do is hold up my jacket and say, "I'm big! I'm big!"

i already have pepper spray by my bed, and keep another can of pepper spray and a pocket knife in my purse. i wouldn't mind having a gun for self-defense purposes as long as it were in a safe and secure place.

I think we have about 7 or 8 guns. All of them are loaded too..If someone tries anything w/ my family, they better hope to god that we dont get our hands on one of the guns.. :happyface

I THINK you can in the USA , with a permit ( anyone know for sure? ) , here in Canada, only mailmen have it ( legally ), to use against dogs

i personally dont like guns, too many people get shot in my neighborhood on a daily basis, and its too easy too hurt yourself.

give me a good ol' chainsaw and a flamethrower ANY day - now THAT's what I call some home DEFENSE.
