automatic. I've never even tried to drive a stick before.

I have once ridden (not drove) in a stick shift car and I could barely stand that! I was just like moving all over and being jerked. It was a just a very strange feeling!

lol its stranger driving it-theres so much pressure b/c if you do the wrong thing you can tear the engine out of the car lol

Automatic.

I got a taste-test of driving in "standard" about ten years, but I am not going to remember how to do that ten years later!!! I think it's easier to drive in Automatic, anyway.

I have driven both but I prefer an automatic. Stick shifts get very tiresome! But once you have learned to drive a stick you never forget! :D

Automatic....ironically, my fave car was a 4 speed, but, i loved the accessories like the sunroof, hated the transmission, and driving/braking with both feet...never have another standard

For a Cadillac enthusiast like me, automatic of course.
But I also like muscle cars with automatics better over manuals.
The G.M. automatic (Turbo-Hydramatic) and Mopar's automatic (Torqueflite) were the best in the business.

that would be me - once you get used to it it just feels natural, going back to an automatic your arms and legs feel useless and stupid with not enough to do..

and if you drive a sports car an automatic just holds you back pissed:

Well, i learned to drive Auto, then got a standard and frankly, i have enough to do watching the road, lights, pedestrians, idiot drivers cutting lanes....who needs the frustration of a clutch too?...i never found it natural or any fun, Auto for me from now on! ;)

I voted stick, cause that's what I drive, and it's fun. It feels like you have more control over your car.

The one time I don't like it, is if I'm busy driving in heavy traffic, and I get calls on the cell phone. That's when having an automatic would be better.

Automatic. I tried to learn to drive stick but I didn't get very far. I wish I could learn, because even though I like the convenience of an automatic, a manual transmission actually provides better performance and fuel economy.

I did, however, have a semi-automatic on my 1972 VW Bug. You shifted when you sped up or slowed down, just like a stick, but there was no clutch pedal to press down on when you had to shift.

Auto for sure - haven't even tried manual, and would be totally lost if I ever had to. I know people who have them swear by them (especially in winter driving), but I think that's not even an issue anymore with front wheel drive.

I do know that when I get behind somebody with manual, you can always tell the ones that don't know how to shift properly and they drive you nuts. You'll start to take off from a red light, and as they just get past the intersection, they seem to shift, and HESITATE - I just about go up their butts then - supposedly if they know how to shift correctly, you shouldn't notice any hesitation.

I learned how to drive a stick once, but that was 10 years ago, and we haven't had a stick since anyway, so I forgot.

Anyway, I was watching my aunt drive her stick shift in stop and go traffic, and I'm thinking, "It's so much easier having an automatic."
