Cybill Shepherd keen on Moonlighting movie
Jul 29, 2005, 12:07 GMT

Cybill Shepherd is keen to revive her hit TV show Moonlighting as a new movie - even though she made no secret of her dislike for co-star Bruce Willis.

The actress admits her feelings towards the Die Hard star have mellowed over time, and now she's trying to talk him into revisiting the show that made them both stars 20 years ago this year (1985).

She says, "I've heard that Bruce would do it if Glenn Gordon Caron (show creator) could figure out a way to do it, but if Glenn can't figure out a way to do it, I'm probably not going to get a chance of doing it.

"I'd do it even if Bruce won't do it, but we'll just have to talk to Bruce about it. Bruce and I talk once in a while. We have a very friendly relationship these days. I think he's sexier even without hair."

'Moonlighting' movie on the way?
Saturday, August 6 2005, 16:10 BST -- by Daniel Kilkelly

Cybill Shepherd has revealed that she would be willing to star in a movie version of 1985 TV comedy drama Moonlighting.

The actress, who played Maddie Hayes, was involved in a furious feud with co-star and ex-lover Bruce Willis twenty years ago, but now she is willing to work alongside the actor again.

Shepherd told The Mirror, "I've heard that Bruce would do it if Glenn Gordon Coron, the show's creator, could figure out a way to do it. I'd do it even if Bruce won't do it, though. We talk once in a while, we have a very friendly relationship these days. I think he's even sexier without hair."

Interesting how they make Bruce Willis her ex-lover ;)

Hey guys,

That would be cool to see a Moonlighting movie, but come on, without Bruce! What is she thinking? That would be horrible. What, it would be about Maddie and not David? The whole point of a movie would be to have those two characters back together. I would be very disappointed if Cyb makes this happen even without Bruce onboard :(

I would love to see it but if Bruce isn't in it their is no Moonlighting.

I agree, dreams200377, it just would not be the same without Bruce...a reunion movie should never be made with just part of the original cast. it's good to hear that Cybill and Bruce seem to 'have a friendly relationship these days' - it was about time to forget about the past, if we sticked to all the awful things that happened in our lives we'd never be happy..then again it's just what is said on the paper I never heard her say that myself... ;)

I totally agree with you BSDDomi. Oh, I could swear I read somewhere, recently, that Bruce has said they don't speak. Who knows what's true or not, ya know? At this point, they should just kiss and make up :)

I thought they made up years ago. I forget where I saw them but they did share a stage once during the last decade. It might have been at the emmy's or some other award show.

He didn't seem to be all too happy to talk about Cybill when he did that audio commentary for the DVD set or is it just me, it's not that he said anything bad but he didn't just seem all too enthusiastic about the whole audio commentary thing..

Yeah, I agree...his one comment, that went something like, "Well, that's Cybill Shepherd," had a very unloving tone. Although, it was nice when he said what a dish she was, and how sexy he thought she was in Dream Sequence. He didn't have to say that, so I found it nice for him to actually make those flattering remarks. No one will ever really know what went on with the two of them, except Cyb and Bruce.

i can see it now. the whole movie can be a "where's daivd" thing, missing person and all that (that way they are not together). we spend the whole two hours with maddie calling the shots as bert is training bert,jr the ropes of being a PI, looking for Mr. addison. david is found, being held hostage for getting to close to the ensalmo case. bert, jr finds and frees our hero. at the grand opening of "viola and son detective agency", david and maddie finally meet, and kiss as the closing credits start.......
the credits are listed as bert,jr rhymes the cast and production personnell's names off.

I thought BW complimented her a couple of times. I remember he made a comment about how good she was in Dream Sequence and HOW SEXY she was when she did the "I Told You I Love You" in the black dress. He also mentioned her beauty (twice?) during the My Fair David commentary.

Cybill mentioned that while working in Toronto at the same time a couple of months ago, that they had talked.

GGC also (somewhat begrudgingly it seemed to me) complimented her on the DVD commentaries. One of the directors said how wonderful she was, and Glenn agreed. He seems to carry more bad feelings than BW in my opinion.

The more I watch the DVD set, the more I am amazed at how GREAT she was. She wasn't just good -- she was fantastic.

i agree, she was fantastic.

i think she was the show--i don't think david addison or miss dipesto would have worked without maddie hayes. she was the normal one. (i ignore what the writers did to her after season three).

i was talking to a date about 'it's a wonderful job' (one of the christmas episodes) and i was telling him that it bothered me.
he hadn't seen moonlighting, so i told him the plot. how everyone Around maddie had changed Her for the best.
and my date said he had seen the frank capra movie 'it's a wonderful life' on tv and the difference was the lead character had changed the lives of all of the people around him. he had made the lives of so many people better.
i wish the episode 'it's a wonderful job' had been true to the movie, because i think the character of maddie hayes had changed everyone around her for the best.

As much as I love Cybill, and no one could play the role of Maddie better than her, I would hate to see any sort of Moonlighting reunion without both Cybill and Bruce. I really don't think it would be worth doing otherwise.

I think she did, though -- she came back, and they were significantly improved in attitude and were quite gentle with her. A major turnaround from their Capt. Bly stabs earlier in the day. Granted, it wasn't directly b/c of her experience with the angel, but it still was a change they both were open for at that moment.

I love "It's a Wonderful Job", it also reminds me of the day I almost died during a ski trip in Austria while I was climbing up a mountain and experienced exactly what Maddie did, the flashing right before your eyes scene...

I think someone mentioned how some of the people were moving in that one still scene...especially that one guy who had a glass of beer in his hand I think...he may be excused, the other guy I think even blinked...tsk tsk...

Thats interesting! I always looked if someone was moving but never catched anyone moving.
I'll check again. I thought it was a double filmed shot....
Well it must have been cuz there were 2 Cybills!!

I can't say I ever noticed either. But I love that episode so much, - any excuse to go and watch it again! I just love that scene in the bar too, it's really touching and sad. Maddie's really stubborn too, right til the last minute she insists that she doesn't want to change her mind about going back to her old life, even though we know she doesn't really believe that. But she doesn't want to admit that she would miss David because it might make her face how she really feels about him. Ooooh, methinks I can sense another wallpaper coming on!

Ok, thanks for the suggestion. I shall definately keep that in mind, but I can't promise anything for the next few days as I'm going to be busy. But I shall think about it for a while til I get an idea of what sort of things I want. I definately want to use the bar scene though. Watch this space! (or actually, watch the wallpapers thread)

SEEING THE LIGHT
WERE you a fan of 1985 TV comedy drama Moonlighting? Well, hang on to your hat, because Cybill Shepherd is keen to revive her role as Maddie Hayes in a Moonlighting movie. Yay!

Back in the 80s, Cybill made no secret of her intense hatred for her co-star (and ex-lover) Bruce Willis, but apparently her feelings have mellowed over time.

She says, "I've heard that Bruce would do it if Glenn Gordon Caron (the show's creator) could figure out a way to do it. I'd do it even if Bruce won't do it, though. We talk once in a while, we have a very friendly relationship these days. I think he's sexier even without hair."

Hi thanks. I mean the one where we don't see Maddie but the other Maddie from the back at the steering wheel with the 'real' maddie in the back of the car staring at the wall...shortly after that I believe she has that look on her face and screams and then we get the flashbacks...

I think he's very sexy now, just as sexy as in seasons 2 & 3.

In season 1, he looked boyish -- in season 2, BW matured into a man.

I LIKE MEN!. :D

I agree. I hated him during the Annie time.

Okay don't get me wrong here, I hated the eps with Annie and wish those could just be deleted from existed. But I didn't hate David in these eps. It seemed to me David had tried to keep things going with Maddie this season, buying her the pearls, and he even said something sweet while dancing with her in the bar in one of the Annie eps and Maddie just sort of brushed him off. Maddie had defined their relationship as "pals." I do NOT believe David really cared much for Annie but she seemed to like his life is a party attitude which was something Maddie never did so I think the Annie thing was just a booster for his pride, I mean come on, Maddie kinda pulled him around, on again, off again. Had to have hurt the ole pride. And I like to think he was trying to make her jealous. I have to say I do think he was too harsh however in the scene where he finds Maddie in his bed.
One more thing I'd like to say about this season though is about the night Maddie was attacked. I think the writers were totally off here(well they were most of the season) but I think the David from earlier seasons would have rushed to Maddie's house as soon as he found out about this. He would not have waited till the next day to check on her. Okay I have thought about this season too much now, gonna have to go back to the happier eps now and cheer myself up.

I totally agree. With everything you said, actually, but this stuff in particular. The whole attitude he had toward Maddie during Annie was what I found un-sexy... ESPECIALLY on the heels of the pearls and the pool playing and everything else. Because if he only did it to hurt her, that sucks too. And even though she sort of had it coming, she had it coming months earlier -- back when she came home with a new man, etc. Not where it did happen, completely random and out of the blue.

Again, this was all just poor storytelling really, and a flaw in that season, since there was no linenar narrative to their relationship (it was Sybil with an "S" ho ho :)).

He started to rebound back to his usual self for me toward the end of the last episode, but not enough -- it was all about their preoccupation with saving themselves, and not their love for each other (until, like the extreme last beat of the show that is). I think that's why the 3-part finale leaves such a bad taste for me in Dave's sexy-o-meter -- not his finest personality moments, and even the hottest guy, if he's being an ass, is still just being an ass.

But I do still love David -- so much that I look for a bit of him in everything Bruce does, even today. (picture this wee dude waving a white flag before the bullets start in).
