Pat Priest. Never noticed that there was another one. Couldn't have been as good as the original!

I think Beverley Owen was a very good actress, and thought it was a shame that she left the show after only 13 episodes.
However, Pat Priest was a sexier Marilyn.
They both did a great job playing the poor, unfortunate niece!

Pat Priest wasn't the original; Beverly Owen was. Personally I like them both. Each of them played the part perfectly. Neither of them ever raised their voices in anger like the rest of the family. Just another way to be "different and abnormal."

I think because she was on longer Pat Priest is the Marilyn that
everyone remembers.

IMHO I think Pat Priest was the better Marilyn. She seemed to fit in a bit more.

Actually, if you put one next to the other, I wouldn't be able to tell them apart unless you told me who was who. So, they were both good actresses and they both looked somewhat similar, but I remember the first Marilyn I was exposed to when I was little was Pat Priest. So, I guess my vote goes to her.

Beverly Owen just wasn't much of an actress. You could tell from the beginning she wasn't happy. Priest had her moments, but overall, I think the character of Marilyn was pretty useless.

Once again I say Pat Priest was the better Marilyn. And yes I knew for many years that Beverly Owen wore a wig.Ms. Owen seemed upset a lot while playing the character. I disagree that the character was useless, there wre several eps she was important in and look how she is often the viewers favorite character. But I feel she should have had a bigger role.

I kinda' liked them both but pat preist is proably the best. I change my mind alot though ;)

It is doubtful just about anyone here knows what Beverly Owen even really looked like back in the 60's mninus her blonde hairpiece. Pat Priest looked the exact same in real life as she did on the show. Owen looked heavily made up in other ways too on The Munsters. Priest was natural. Owen was almost definitely not prettier in real life than she was on the show.Priest is better looking.

In the show, Beverley Owen looked much prettier than Pat Priest I think. She was very attactive young lady that had cute smile and nice figure. Pat Priest had all those things too but she just wasn't attractive enough in a sense. In acting wise in the show, they are about the same.

Hairpiece Lu. Hairpiece! Owen looked like a beautiful, scarey, artificial, madeup Nazi fraulein. We nearly all don't know what Owen really looked like back then. Priest looked like her natural beautiful self.

Pat Preist fan here. She seemed happier to be in the Munster house than Owen!

According to a recent TVography of The Munsters Beverly Owen left the show after 13 episodes because she was homesick for New York and the boyfriend she had left behind. She had only signed on to dothe pilot because she thought it wouldn't be picked up as a series. When it was picked up she found herself cotractually obligated to do the series. Her unhappiness was obvious to all involved but the producers refused to let her out of her contract until Fred Gwynne and Al Lewis threatened to quit. The producers realized it would be easier to replace Beverly than to replace both Fred and Al so Beverly was sent home to New York and Pat Priest was eventually selected as her replacement. I think Beverly did a great job considering she never really wanted to be there in the first place. I also think Pat did a great job of stepping into an established show and making the role hers. So I guess I'm voting for Both!:wave:

Pat Priest, one of the few people who replaced an original cast member on a tv show that I actually liked.

They were both pretty, but if I had to pick the most beautiful one, it would be Beverley Owen.

And for those who said that Beverley did not look pretty out of her Marilyn wig, that's totally ridiculous!
I saw a photo of her as a brunette with her real long brown hair on one of The Munsters web sites & oh my God, she looked so beautiful, better than what she looked like as Marilyn in The Munsters.
Back then she looked alot like a young Jaclyn Smith!

It really is a shame that she could not finish up the first season of The Munsters because then we could of had one full season of Bev & the second season of Pat.
But we were lucky enough to at least have Bev in 13 episodes.
Even though we saw Bev turn up on the recent Munsters TV-iography Special on A&E, she is a very private person today. She is retired from acting & we need to respect that, but good luck to her & her family.

treasury. I think her names is on old dollars bills. I also read she when doing the show she was in her late 20's and had a son. amazing she was playiing a young girl on the show.

Jaclyn Smith is overrated looks-wise! And she can't even act very well! And, bacxk to Beverly, havng a different hair color can make one look very different! Nothing foolish in anything I just wrote.

Her mother, Ivy Baker Priest, was a U.S. treasurer.
