How come the "Munsters" episodes have never been released on vhs or dvd? Does anyone know? I just bought "Munster, Go Home!" on dvd and I wish that whoever owns the copyright to the Munsters series would release some of the episodes on dvd.

Anytime if they were to release some episodes
of the Munsters I would strongly suggest to release these episodes:
#1- Munster Masquerade
#2- My Fair Munster
#9- Knock Wood, Here Comes Charlie
#19- Eddie's Nickname
#20- Bats of Feather
#35- Herman's Happy Valley
#36- Hot Rod Herman
#38- My Friend Herman
#44- Happy 100th Anniversary
#48- A Man For Marilyn
#52- The Treasure of Mockingbird Heights
#53- Herman's Peace Offering
#55- Just Another Pretty Face
#60- Zombo
The two main most popular episodes are:
Hot Rod Herman and Zombo.

Currently, Universal Home Video owns the rights to The Munsters, however if their were to put the series on DVD, I wouldn't prefer a "Best Of", but rather a "Seasonal" release. Below there is a link where you can vote for The Munsters to be released on DVD:

I sent an e-mail to Universal regarding the Munsters and received a "not at this time" response so don't hold your breath for DVDs. In the entire history of the show only the UK (PAL Format) has "best of" home video (VHS) of this beloved series. They can sometimes be found on ebay but you need a player that is PAL ready. Also on ebay are DVD home burned pirated copies straight from TVLand. Buyer beware.:)

I wish it would come out on DVD! It's my favorite show right now, if it did come out on DVD I'd like to have whole season releases.

I wish it would but I doubt it will which really stinks because I would buy all the seasons.

The poster above mentioned two seasons? What about the ownership of season 3?
Anyway, good point! Universal ownes Leave it to Beaver as well, so we can expect the same scenerio from them regarding that series as well!
I heard that NBC Studios acquired (or is trying to buy Universal) They are just as greedy with their shows as the original Universal!

Although it didn't come to be, here's an interesting blurb about the third season. I think I would have pulled my hair out if I had been around to find out it was canceled.

I hope that Universal see's that they can still license The MUnsters to TV Land, and sell DVD boxsets of this program. I do not subscribe to cable TV, I prefer to purchase DVDs of my favourite TV shows. I can't be the only person who does this. TV programs on DVD are RED hot items, and as more people buy DVD players...they'll need new DVDs to watch.
Gee, it's that simple.

The Munsters complete 1st season is coming August 24th. Plus they're also releasing a separate dvd of the Munsters unaired pilots, and other shows they appeared on too.
