TV DVD Fan 08-05-2005, 06:53 PM I just bought a 3 episode Digiview "number." Also, there is one episode of the show on "TV Guide Presents", a 4-disc set celebrating 32 classic episodes of classic shows- classic televison, comedies, westerns, and detectives, 8 episodes per volume. (mentioned previously there are 4 volumes all-together).

treky 10-10-2005, 01:41 AM and, there's also an episode of this series included on the DVD of 2 "The Beverlly Hillbillies" and 1 "Petticoat Junction" xmas episodes.
TV DVD Fan 11-11-2005, 10:40 PM I saw that, I can't wait to get the collection. There's a good six episodes on a TV Guide set too! However, nothing could beat an official release!

treky 11-12-2005, 02:05 AM I remember seeing 3 or 4 episodes YEARS ago, back in the 70s (I think it was the summer of 76 or 77) when a local station was showing sitcoms from the 50s, on weeknights during the summer. That's the last time I saw it.
snorlaxnut 11-25-2005, 02:27 AM There is another good set of the show.
The set is called "Love That Bob", put out by Platinum Disc (also known as Platinum Disc Corporation). If I can find the cover to this set, I will post it.
The 2-disc set contains 16 episodes:
Disc 1:
Bob's Forgotten Fiancée
Bob Goes Bird Watching
Grandpa's Old Buddy
Bob Becomes A Stage Uncle
Bob Butters Beck
Grandpa Attends A Convention
Bob And Schultzy Reunite
The Sheik
Disc 2:
Grandpa's Christmas Visit
Bob In Orbit
Grandpa Moves West
Bob And The Dumb Blonde
Bob Helps Anna Maria
Wolf Sitter
Bob Plays Margaret's Game
Bob Digs Rock 'N Roll
The episodes look complete, one episode was called "The Bob Cummings Show", minus the part about Winston Cigarettes. That episode and another had end credits showing boxes of Winston Cigarettes. The rest were all called "Love That Bob".
The picture quality was very good on most of the episodes. The set said the episodes were in "Digitally Enhanced Audio 5.1". Maybe that's why some of the episodes' audio sounded like you are hearing it through a pop can.
Note: On disc 1, there might be a glitch if you try to get to the episodes menu. I tried several times and the DVD player would freeze up half of the time when I got to that menu. But just selecting "Play All" on the main menu and using the remote to skip to the next chapter got me to the next episode.
And like all DVD sets from Platinum Disc Corporation, there is a huge company logo on the screen that pops up sometimes. But on this set, if you turn off subtitles, using your remote, during the first episode on each disc, the logo should not show up on the rest of the disc.
And this is a cheap set too. I got it at a Ross clothing store for $4.99.
EDIT: I found a picture of the set's box on eBay. When I bought the set, it had "FULLSCREEN" at the top, but the rest of the box is the same as the picture I attached.
TV DVD Fan 12-01-2005, 06:51 PM There's a pretty cool combo set with 32 episodes of Love That Bob and Life With Elizabeth (Betty White). It's only 10 bucks at Suncoast.com, it seems worth your while to get 32 episodes from 2 rare, hard to find, shows. Still, hopefully we will get an OFFICIAL release, shortly.

TV Knowledge Fan 04-27-2006, 01:35 PM .....the series was known as "THE BOB CUMMINGS SHOW" on NBC and CBS during its original network broadcasts. When the show was leased to ABC for daytime repeats between 1959 and '61, it became "LOVE THAT BOB"...and THAT'S the title MCA-TV distributed in syndication after the fall of 1961. So some of the 16mm prints on that DVD, 'snorlaxnut', are from the syndicated
package. Too bad the original Winston (and "alternate sponsor") commercials weren't on the other episodes...Bob himself delivered a plug for Winston at the end of every episode R.J. Reynolds sponsored- and sometimes with the other "Winston" celebrity, Garry Moore [whose "I'VE GOT A SECRET" was also sponsored by them at the time].
Forrest Tucker 05-03-2006, 11:56 PM One thing to look for; you never see Bob take a drag on the cigarettes! He was rabidly anti-smoking and telling people that smoking would destroy their health, according to Dwayne Hickman in his book FOREVER DOBIE. This being almost a decade before the surgeon general's report! Bob was ahead of his time.
Marvo301 03-21-2009, 07:49 PM I found a copy of the 2 DVD set with 16 episodes at Value Village today for $7.99. I'm looking forward to watching them as I've never seen this series. I'm looking forward to seeing a young Ann B. Davis and a pre-Dobie Dwayne Hickman.
lilhave 05-12-2009, 08:37 PM I have 15 disks, with 60 episodes of this show.
