Paul McCartney Attacks Animal Fur Wearing Celebs
by Scott Colothan on 8/5/2005

Sir Paul McCartney has slammed stars such as P Diddy and J Lo for wearing coats made from animal fur.

The Beatles legend has urged such pop stars to watch videos showing the barbaric treatment of animals before buying their coats.

The comments come on the 25th anniversary of People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) which highlights the suffering animals go through.

As contactmusic reports Macca said: "I understand all too well the attraction of, when you first earn money, wanting to show off.

“You want the most ridiculous furs, you want chinchilla dripping off you, you want jewellery. The trouble is, the difference between fur and jewellery is fur hurts someone.

“What PETA and I want to say to them is, 'Look at these videos, because you are going to see electrocution, you're going to see animals with their throats slit, and you are taking a beautiful animal's coat.'"

I don't care if people eat meat. I, personally, choose not to- but I'm not going to get pissed if you eat it. The majority of the world does.

Yet... I hate people wearing furs. It's horrible.

Yum! :liplick:I wonder if Sir Paulie is a big fan of Randall Blythe, the lead singer of Lamb of God, who shows the best way to barbecue in the latest issue of Revolver. Steaks--now THEM'S good eatin'!! :eat:

I just bought some Albertson's fried chicken for my Saturday supervisor at work tomorrow. She says that chicken is her comfort food!

To each is own. I eat meat, steak, pork, chicken, fish, etc.., and I wear furs. And I'm about to buy another one.

If you don't eat meat that is your choice. If you are a member of PETA, that's your choice also. But if anyone dare get in my face or resort to throwing paint on my fur, like some of these against fur finatics have done to people in the past, I will beat them down, and then sue there PETA a$$e$

I'm a huge animal lover, but I still eat all kinds of meat - yes - even after watching Babe, and I had a fur. We are talking animals who are raised for this just as our food is. The carcasses are also used in pet food so its not as though they rest goes to waste. I have nothing against most animal rights groups, but I do think that PETAs campaigns go too far quite often. Throwing paint and just totally wasting that animals life is vandalism, assault and not getting your point across in a civil manner.

I like Paul but his comment about "showing off", to that I say "What Ever":mooner:

Fur is a luxury item. That big a$$ estate of his and anything else he owns that he doesn't necessarily have to have is also a "luxury item"

Power to the people, P Diddy, Jada Pinkett Smith, and all the people who love meat and fur

The big reason I bought my coat was because I was fed up with the freezing Canadian winters and over-priced cloth dress coats that were about as warm as wrapping a sheet around you. For business, I couldn't be wearing a parka or one of those stupid "Michelin Man" style nylon casual jobs so fur was the obvious alternative. I've never had a warmer coat and its lasted WAY longer than all the cloth coats that would have been in landfills by now. :p

AMEN! When I first moved to NC 15 years ago, I hardly had an opportunity to wear my coats, but the winters have been getting increasingly colder each year. Canada is the place for fur. My furier buys his pelts in Canada. He was just there in June. I gave him specific instructions on finding me a particular color while he was in Canada. This one will be my bday present to myself for next year.

Well I guess the same way he tries to discourage people from buying fur, I have convinced a few people, who never thought of buying one not because they were against it, to buy one.

It's an investment and if you take care of it, it will last you forever.

My mother has a seal coat, and I have a cousin who has one made of gorilla fur, and I can see why they have banned them, but these coats are over 50 years old and still look brand spankin new.

Gorilla fur!! Never heard of that! But as you say - they're vintage now so what are you going to do? Toss them in the garbage? They might as well at least get worn and be useful.

But as you say, you store it correct and take care of the skins, it'll last probably your lifetime and some of your daughters/sons.

And the bad thing about my cousin with the gorilla fur, the first time I saw her in it, she was on the plump, veluptuous, heavy side, she looked like a gorilla in it

I'm sure when she first bought it she was thin. God Bless her, her medication made her plump.

Read it over again Michel - they use the meat in petfoods. Nothing is wasted now - no different than the burger you eat, and the hide is used for leather and suede products.
