Does anyone know the true reason why TVLand repeatedly does not air "Herman's Peace Offensive?" I've taped all the episodes and the two movies and would like to have my collection complete but this prevents me from doing so. Any ideas on what is going on?

The reason I heard for not airing that particular episode was because Herman is promoting violence by encouraging Eddie to fight a bully.

That is a crazy reason to skip over it though. I've seen many shows on tvland and even Nick @ Nite that shows somebody fighting a bully.

Dudley: Well, I went out for football, but I got my finger stepped on, so my mother made me quit.

Eddie: Well listen-- I went out for basketball and I got my hair pulled, and my mother made ME quit.

Dudley: It's not that I was afraid of getting hurt or anything; it's just that-- well, it's kind o' hard to play the flute with a busted finger.

That sucks you-know what. It is timeless comedy. I will see if I have it in my TV collection. Here in the Chicago area, there is a station that airs The Munsters occasionally. And they don't skip them. My God, in a society where they allow college based orgy shows, I think that they can show a black and white oldie that shows the father try and teach his boy how to defend himself. Look at Simpsons, in an earlier episode Homer teaches Bart how to rip the bully to shreds. Of course it's on DVD, but My God, they take stuff that doesn't matter too seriously. Also they show the program at 2:3pm on TVLAND. Kids aren't even home from school yet. I am sure somebody called the newtork and complained. If you don't like it change the #@$%'n channel.

I'm surprised that tvland doesn't air this episode. I know I already posted a reply, but wanted to add something new.

Parents think they are doing the best for the children when they see something they don't approve of (such as Herman urging Eddie to fight a bully)

They don't realize that it is a harmless comedy series, and the fight was just part of the plot. I'm trying to understand why they would censor a harmless show, like The Munsters.

I can picture this conversation by the parent calling and complaining about it

Parent: Yes, I saw something on your network today that I think needs to be removed.

tvland operator: What would that be ma'am?

Parent: In an episode of The Munsters, Herman urged Eddie to fight a bully. I just do not want to taint my little Johnny's eyes by him seeing this kind of stuff on your network. You know, Johnny wants to be a doctor when he grows up.

tvland operator: We'll see what we can do ma'am. Goodbye

MEANWHILE: Little Johnny gets picked on and gets into a fight. Instead of using his fists, he uses a gun. Well, I guess that episode of The Munsters could've taught him that atleast black eyes heal, you can't heal a gunshot wound though. He saw using a gun in a fight in another tv show though. Too bad his mother didn't censor the show that he watched to get his clues on using a gun.
