Brawl at Chuck E. Cheese's leads to gun, drug charges

BY NOAH HAGLUND
Of The Post and Courier Staff

While at the Chuck E. Cheese's in North Charleston to break up a fight between unruly patrons, police confiscated two pistols and 25 grams of crack from a car in the parking lot, according to North Charleston police.

A manager called police to report that a baby's birthday party had turned into a brawl at about 7:50 p.m. Sunday, a police report states. When officers arrived at the family-oriented chain restaurant on Rivers Avenue, the 18-year-old mother said her ex-boyfriend, a 14-year-old, came into the restaurant and began arguing with Ranardo Valdez Wright, 21, of North Charleston.

At one point, the report states, Wright was walking on tables and punching people. During the fracas, DeShawn Rodney Broughton, 19, of North Charleston, went to the parking lot, saying he was going to get a pistol, the report states.

Leslie Broughton, 31, of North Charleston, who was sitting in a Saturn with the man, told the police they could search the car, the report states. Inside the glove box, they found $318 in cash and plastic bags containing 25 grams of a substance that field-tested positive for crack cocaine and other bags with 4 grams of a substance that tested positive for cocaine.

Under the front passenger's seat, officers found a .38-caliber Interarms handgun. Under the driver's seat, they found a .38-caliber Smith & Wesson, the police report said.

DeShawn Broughton was charged with trafficking in cocaine base, possession of cocaine and illegal possession of a pistol for someone younger than 21, the report states. He remained in jail Tuesday after bail was set at $60,000, according to the Charleston County Detention Center.

Leslie Broughton was charged with trafficking cocaine base, the report states. She was still awaiting a bail hearing Tuesday, according to the jail, which also listed a charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon.

Also cited were Rashad Banks, 18, of Summerville, and Wright, both with public disorderly conduct, the report states. The 14-year-old was released to his stepfather on a custodial promise, the report states.

A Chuck E. Cheese's manager said, "Nobody in this building is allowed to talk about it."

I'm starting to think Miss Golden is a disgruntled former employee of Chuck E. Cheese who wants to spread vicious stories about the place so it'll go under.

I mean, where's the posts about when something bad happens at Pizza Hut?

wow, I had no idea all these posts about Chuck E. Cheese (with not link/source to go along with it) were all made by the same person until people mentioned it now! I never really paid attention to who posted them; I just read them.

It does make you wonder though.

Part of me can't blame Miss Golden if she is a disgruntled former employee of Chuck E. Cheese. I worked one holiday season at Wal-Mart and I can think of A LOT of posts I could start about the nonsense that went on there, LOL!

I've looked up all the chuck e cheese articles she's posted on google and found all but two of them. one of them is from today (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=147455) and the other was from several months ago, i don't remember which exact one though. of course those sites could be lying, but the point being miss golden isn't making (most) of them up.

I have not made any of them up. I have found all of the articles in Google News, the reason you all do not hear about them is because these news stories are usually contained in the city/town where the incident takes place. If an incident happens in Marietta, Georgia, chances are you will not here about it, unless you watch TV in the Marietta, GA area or read there newspapers.

The Chuck E. Cheese horror events is the best thing that has ever happened to these boards. Lampy and Corkscrew over at PW, told me that most of you all were wimpy sitcom women. I strongly disagree with them, I really like all of you and wish you all would turn your wild side on.
