As any true fan knows there were four marilyns in the original Munster family. There was Beverly Owen, Pat Priest, Debbie Watson, and Jo McDonnell. Of all of them I personally prefer Beverly Owen. Who do you like?

If you count all of the movies and shows, there were eight Marilyns: Beverley Owen (pilots, episodes 1-13), Pat Priest (14-70), Debbie Watson (Munster, Go Home!), Jo McDonnell (The Munsters' Revenge), Mary-Ellen Dunbar ("The Munsters Today" pilot), Hilary Van Dyke ("The Munsters Today" 1-72), Christine Taylor (Here Come the Munsters) and Elaine Hendrix (The Munsters' Scary Little Christmas. Beverley Owen is my favorite! There have been 4 Hermans, 5 Lilys (if you count Joan Marshall as Phoebe as one), 4 Grandpas, and 6 Eddies. (One more for Herman, Lily, and Eddie if you count The Mini-Munsters, the terrible Munsters cartoon)

Lumpy: Did you go out for anything, Dud?

Dudley: Well, I went out for football, but I got my finger stepped on, so my mother made me quit.

Eddie: Well listen-- I went out for basketball and I got my hair pulled, and my mother made ME quit.

Dudley: It's not that I was afraid of getting hurt or anything; it's just that-- well, it's kind o' hard to play the flute with a busted finger.

I'd have to pick Pat Priest. Beverly Owen only played the part in 13 episodes.
Pat Priest may not have originated the role, but she made it her own by playing
the role in more episodes than any other actress. And I, too, think she seemed
to enjoy it more.

Why did Beverly Owen leave the show? There was some fabricated site that talked about how she didn't get along with the cast and crew. Was their any truth to that?

No, they actually helped her to leave the show. She left to get married.

She also wanted to live in New York; she lived there before "The Munsters."

I vote for Pat Priest.

Beverley Owen was one of the most beautiful woman to grace TV sets of the 60's. And although Bev was the first actress to play Marilyn Munster, it was Pat Priest who made the role her own because of the more episodes she appeared in. It really is a shame though that Bev could not hold out and finish off the first season, that way we would have one full season of Bev & the second season with Pat. Today, Bev lives a very private life and tries to distance herself from The Munsters. She did take part in the A&E Biography Munsters Special a few years ago that was released on DVD last year only because producer Kevin Burns asked her too & thank God he did or we would have never known what became of her. There are a few Munster fans who wish Bev would come out & do an autograph show but that is wishful thinking! However I will say that health wise, Pat is doing fine & looks great! She did two appearances last year. One at the Ray Courts Hollywood autograph show in Burbank, CA. & The Munster Mansion Halloween Party in Texas. Pat is one of the nicest people you will ever meet! So friendly & down to earth! And she has the most beautiful blue eyes!

I agree Pat is the sweetest person you will ever meet. I have the Munster Mansion in Texas and I have had the pleasure of Pat attending my Charity event for the last four years. I feel like she is a friend now and am very honored. Although I also thought Beverly Owens was a great Marilyn also. Pat has said several times that she would love to meet Beverly Owens. I think that would make a wonderful autograph show to have both of the Marilyns together.

Two people that can make that possible are Steve Cox & Kevin Burns who know both women very well. If we can convince one of them to make this possible for Pat to finally meet Bev, that would be great. For the last two years, I have suggested to TV Land that they should feature the three Marilyn's on their annual Award show. They did this one year with all three Catwoman from Batman. Julie Newmar, Eartha Kitt & Lee Meriwether from the 60's Batman movie all appeared together & looked great! Now if we can make this happen for the three Marilyn's life would be so much better for us Munster fans!;)

That's a great idea! Now if only those idiot producers would listen to us fans.

I do think it would be a wonderful thing to have the Marilyn's together. I mentioned it to Steve Cox the beginning of last year. I think Beverly Owens is just to private for the whole Munster thing. But indeed for all of us Munster fans it would be a great idea.

Beverly Stone (Owen) was my landlady in NYC for a while in 1985. She and her two children lived in the first floor of the brownstone I lived in. She was a great lady and one evening, I was napping on the couch by the back window and heard a familar voice, when I looked out the window, down below on the back patio was Fred Gwynn. I didn't say a word, just watched them for a while and it is a memory I will always enjoy.
