Yes. All the way til the final season when he was going to have a white roommate. The girl's parents were hilarious. The dad played Simpson on Gimme A Break.

Back to Michael, I liked the way he put on the E Hollywood show. His character was groundbreaking. For a kid using those types of words was something new. James was a bit too angry to pull that off. It sounded funnier coming from a little kid.

No Michael was not racist. He was just what James said he was a "militant midget"

I don't think he was racist, just more proud of being black.

That doesn't exactly help your point. You said "God forbid a "white" show did that!!" All In The Family had a lot more to do with Archie not liking different races, nationalities, etc. much more than Michael on Good Times. It's not even comparable. I'm confused about what your point is exactly. Being "racist" against everyone isn't as bad as being "racist" against just one group?

Michael kinda chilled with his comments after he became older.

I don't believe Michael was racist. It's just he saw what all that happened in the 60's and 70's. Like bombings of black people houses, turning over buses with black children in them, bombing of black churches, killing of civil rights activist all done by a lot of white people. I think that he was proud of his race and was tired of the things that were going on. He was bused to an all white school, and in season 6 I believe it was he was more then willingly ready to move in with a white girl, UNTIL her parents paid a visit to the Evan's house and put their foot in their mouths. IMO

Now Archie, He hated everyone who wasn't white and Christian.

Michael believed in Justice and probably believed in the Malcolm X philosopy but by the last season he grew as a person and was colorblind philosophically.

I posted on another thread abt the character Michael being chosen to be the outspoken one of the family regarding racial equality, racial issues, etc. because the producers felt it would be best that those views come from a child rather than an adult. So it makes sense that when Michael became older, those views wouldn't hold up so well since he was no longer a child.

I don't believe that All In The Family was a racist show - it was showing the idiocy of racism, not endorsing it. I didn't laugh with Archie - I laughed at Archie. And Archie really didn't hate minorities - he feared them and didn't understand them. When he was offered the opportunity to join the KKK in one episode, he was flabbergasted and outrightly refused.

I think Michael saw injustices towards blacks that were perpetuated by white people and stood against them. I never saw Good Times as a racist show either - you were seeing the point-of-view of a black family who were going through hard times. I'm white myself, but if I had been a black person living in those times, perhaps I would have shared their sentiments.
