Dusty Rhodes’ meeting with Stephanie McMahon has ended. When asked about the meeting, McMahon responded:
“Dusty is an incredible asset both creatively and as a talent. We are exploring all possibilities of working with Dusty in the future.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dusty Rhodes return most likely has to do with a DVD release or a possible induction into the 2006 WWE Hall of Fame.
Dusty Rhodes original WWE run was far from spectacular. Dusty Rhodes left the NWA for the WWF in the summer of 1989 and was basically a joke through his run. Vince McMahon was notorious for stealing talent from the NWA back in the 80s and make them look like idiots in the WWE. Dusty wore a polka dot outfit and was basically jobbed out through the year and a half of his tenure with the WWF. Dusty Rhodes primary feuds during his run were with the Macho King Randy Savage and the Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase. Dusty Rhodes left the WWF in early 1991 after he had just competed with his son Dustin better known as Goldust against Ted Dibiase and Virgil at the 1991 Royal Rumble. Dusty then returned to WCW in mid 1991 and took on a creative role and began commentating where he remained off an on through the next 10 years until WCW's death in March 2001. Dusty Rhodes has spent the last 2 and a half years with TNA, until he resigned this past May.
However, now that the WWF owns all of the NWA/WCW history and has incorporated its history into its own, they would probably credit Dusty's success with the NWA World Title.
