Ashlee Simpson's new album hits stores in October!

Ashlee Simpson is "so excited" about her new album, which she's calling In Another Life. "It's all so near, and I have a bunch of songs I really love," she said of the LP, due in October. One of those songs, first single "L.O.V.E.," she said is "just about me and my girlfriends going out, not needing a man in our lives." While she hasn't planned a video for that song just yet, she is about to shoot her album cover. ..."

Were "Autobiography" and "Love Makes the World Go Round" ever released as singles?... I can't remember.

I think she is still planning to release one more single off Autobiography ("Undiscovered") to coincide with her movie of the same name. right?

well, I'm not a fan, but give her the second album to see if her career is really dead.

People like to compare success in terms of other peoples success. I remember someone called Christina Aguilera's debut a flop because it didn't sell as much as Britney's debut, and anyone who says 7-8 million is a flop is smoking some serious crack, lol.

Her album went to #1, sold a couple million, and then it ran its course. You can't expect every album to be like Kelly's "Breakaway" or Gwen's "LAMB" and continue to stay in the top 20 for 9 months. Ashlee outsold her more famous sister with her album, I wouldn't say she's over because of SNL.

no, neither of them were. Autobiography was meant to be released but it never was. I don't think Undiscovered will be released to coincide with the film but I'm not sure.

That's right. If I remember correctly, "Autobiography" was the song she messed during SNL. The show was supposed to be promo for that song as the new single.

Maybe they thought the song was jinxed, so they went with "La La" instead. LOL.

aww she should release it on the 24th.. a day we will always remember. :D

(i meant that neutrally btw, not as an insult. i imagine how frustrating it must be to not be able to talk about a singer you like without some ass coming in and saying "GUESS WHAT? SHE SUCKS. SHE'S A POSER AND SHE LIP-SYNCHED ON SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE! HA!" as if they haven't heard it before.)

Cool. She's alright, I'm not a huge fan, but I don't hate her just because of her SNL thing. Sometimes people need to get a grip. She's not the only one who lipsynchs, and it's not like she does it all the time anyway.

Yeah, you're right, people only dwell on it because she caught caught lip-synching.

"New Ashlee Simpson songs are on the way — her manager/father, Joe Simpson, played four new tracks for New York radio station Z100 last week, including "L.O.V.E.," "Goodbye," "Who's Gonna Catch Me When I Fall" and "Didn't Steal Your Boyfriend." People who heard the songs described them as being "rockish but girlish" and "fun, upbeat and a little dancey." The singer's label rep said that Ashlee's new album was tentatively slated for an October release, and that "L.O.V.E." would be one of the singles. "

i kind of agree. the SNL incident is fun to make fun of, but if she'd pulled off the lipsynching, and people found out about it later, they wouldn't care. evidently the message board on her site got shut down because of all the nasty messages people were posting afterwards. even though i didn't even like her all i could think when i read them was, get the **** over it, you're not perfect either.

A date has been set for Ashlee's new album - October 11

PRETTY SNEAKY, SIS: Joe's other famous daughter, Ashlee, caused quite a stir when attempting to sneak past the red carpet at the E! party. "I'm here to support my dad," said Ashlee, with boyfriend Ryan Cabrera in tow. But, what the heck, why not promote herself anyway? Her big-screen "Undiscovered" is on the way for fall, she reminds, and "I'm really excited about it. I also have a new album coming out Oct. 11."

well, what I found funny is that everyone turned on Ashlee for lipsynching yet people have known Britney and J. Lo have lipsynched from day one and you never saw people attacking them for that.

I think its just because she got caught lip-synching. J.Lo and Britney weren't really "caught" lipsynching, people just knew they were.

i'm sure it's because she screwed up so badly that everyone made such a big deal out of it. like i said, if she wasn't caught and people found out about it later, they wouldn't care as much.

Ashlee Simpson is hard at work on her sophomore album, the follow-up to 2004's multiplatinum-selling Autobiography. And she's baring her soul on it – even writing about her disastrous lip-synching appearance on Saturday Night Live on the song "Beautifully Broken."

"Everything connects to what I've been through in the past year," Simpson told us at a party at Amanda Scheer Demme's Tropicana Bar at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. "The song is about it's okay to mess up, that it's okay to do bad. It's very normal, actually."

Simpson – who's hitting the big screen in the romantic comedy Undiscovered on Aug. 26 – says to expect a more grown-up Ashlee since her last go-round. "I've been through a lot since I put my first album out," she says. "It's where I'm at in my life."

Ashlee Remembers 'SNL' Incident But Forgets Boys On New LP
08.04.2005 9:21 PM EDT

Singer's In Another Life is due October 18.

Ashlee Simpson isn't shying away from what some say was the biggest mistake — and the biggest moment — of her career. The "SNL" incident looms large on her forthcoming LP, In Another Life, which has not one but two songs on the

Perhaps she just couldn't avoid it, if she wanted to tackle more meaningful subject matter this time around (see "Ashlee Simpson Going '80s, Getting Personal On Next Album"). Whereas the singer's debut, Autobiography, was mostly about her love life, In Another Life, due October 18, goes deeper, according to her manager and father Joe Simpson. "You know, the beautiful thing about Ashlee is that she's really willing to bare her soul," he said. "This record is about discovering herself as a 20-year-old woman."

That 20-year-old isn't above having fun — her first single, "L.O.V.E.," which will be out at the end of August, is a girl-power song about going dancing with your friends. "It's all about the boyfriend didn't call, so she decides to go out with her girls, because they're always faithful," he said. " 'Forget the boys, it's just us girls,' so it's great." That's not the only party track — "Nasty Girls" is also about dancing, "which she obviously loves to do," Joe Simpson said.

But Simpson turns inward on "Beautifully Broken" and "Who Will Help Me When I Fall," the two songs that address the "SNL" incident (see "Ashlee Blames Gastric Distress For 'SNL' Lip-Synch Snafu"). "There's no way to get away from mistakes," he said. "There's no way to run away from failure because in everyone's life, you're going to meet it. So we try to teach our girls the way to do it is head on. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and go at it."

Ashlee Planning 'SNL' Redux?
By Melinda Newman, L.A.

http://www.billboard.com/billboard/photos/artists/ashlee-simpson2.gif

Ashlee Simpson is ready to return to the scene of the crime. She is in talks with "Saturday Night Live" to host and perform on the NBC show around the Oct. 11 release of her sophomore Geffen album, "I Am Me."

"It's not confirmed yet, but I want to do it," she tells Billboard in her first interview about the new album. "I've battled those demons. I'm ready to go back out and do it again."

Lest anyone has forgotten, Simpson, on the back of her Geffen debut "Autobiography" -- which bowed at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 last year and has sold 2.9 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan -- appeared on the show last October. As she prepared to sing her second song, a prerecorded vocal track of her first performance erroneously began playing, revealing that she had been lip-syncing. Simpson, who said she had to use prerecorded vocals because her acid reflux had left her unable to sing, was vilified for passing off her performance as live.

Not surprisingly, that event and the aftermath found their way onto the new album, which, like "Autobiography," she wrote with Kara Dioguardi and John Shanks, who also produced.

The tune "Beautifully Broken" most clearly references those events. "I've obviously fallen on my face before in front of a bunch of people, but I've learned it's a beautiful thing and it's OK for people to be broken," she says. "That song is about the moment where it's like, 'God, I don't even know if I'm going to be able to get out of my bed tomorrow.' But you have to get yourself to get up and continue."

Musically, the album is more aggressive than "Autobiography" and also shows the 1980s influence of such female rockers as Joan Jett and Terri Nunn, which is surprising, since Simpson is only 20. "I just love '80s music," she says. "It's just so light and fun, and that was a lot of what I wanted to do on this record."

Simpson knows that after her "SNL" snafu, some folks won't be willing to give her a second chance, but she left the ghosts of her naysayers outside the recording studio.

"The first two days, I was like, 'What am I gonna [do]'... and then I was like, 'Who cares? I'm going to make a record that's true to myself and if people get that I can sing off of it, great, but if it's just a record that my fans love, then that's great for me too.' I'm not afraid of criticism anymore, must I say?"

I don't think she'll ever recover from SNL. Granted, she isn't the only "pop" star to lip sync, but she was caught on live TV and walked off the set. She also was booed off the stage at the Orange Bowl.

I think the way she handled the SNL incident is the real nail in the coffin. If she had sucked up the humilation for a few days instead of putting the blame on everything from acid reflux to her bandmates, etc..., I think she would've gotten over it a lot faster.

It's funny how SNL was career suicide for both Ashlee and Sinead O'Connor, two artists who people thought had promising careers before then.

So agree with you. When celebrities make an "oops" the best medicine is for them to own up to it ASAP. No BS, no crap, nada. Just be honest. I know this is not a real good analogy but remember Hugh Grant??? BJ??? Jay Leno Show??? His career? Didn't hurt him. He knew he was caught and why lie?? As for being booed. It was stated that she was actually booed because she couldn't hear the music in her ear piece and therefore, was trying to sing to the beat of the band. It was off. That's why she was booed. It may also have been her lip synching on SNL, but her performance at the bowl was also a disaster. It was worse to hear it there in person, than what the tv audience heard.
