View Full Version : Did you think Paul's charachter boring in the later seasons?
chipsandsoda 07-31-2005, 10:24 PM Did anyone else think that Paul became boring after he got contact lenses and got taller? I think after season 4 he changed a lot. Notice they/he never mentioned his allergies? Also it seems as though the charachter did not appear on the show as often as he did in the earlier seasons. Mabye Josh Saviano had other stuff going on like School and decided to work less. Also although Kevin and Paul were always known as Best friends. For some reason after Season 4 Kevin and Paul seemed more distant. Mabye because Kevin had all those other friends during the later years like Ricky, Chuck, Jeff, etc. Anyways I think Paul was much funnier when he had glasses and was on the show more. Did anyone else notice these changes?
Raisingdad2004 08-06-2005, 11:02 AM I thought he was boring all the time, but he was less annoying in the later seasons. In Episode #2 there is this really annoying moment when Cutlip was going to draw the whole body and Paul just spends like 20 seconds 'drawing' a woman with his hands, it just really annoyed me - he overacted allot.
Mikado 08-06-2005, 04:50 PM I think it was probably done as part of the whole Kevin and Paul growing apart thread the show later took, besides the fact that his character was used less when the show emphasized the Kevin-Winnie relationship more and more.

Good point!

Yeah once he went to private school, it was all downhill.
Belair 08-19-2005, 01:51 AM When he and Kevin weren't as good friends anymore, I couldn't see the Paul character in the same way. It really ruined it for me.
Justwondering 06-04-2006, 08:30 AM It was because Josh Soriano had physically grown so much, and was no longer the cute kid with the nerdy glasses from seasons 1 & 2, the producers really didn't know what to do with his character. Essentially, they cast Paul as short, cute kid and ended up with a tall teenager who towered over Fred Savage. They dealt with the awkwardness by ignoring his character. I mean, what could they do . . . kill him off?

It was mentioned that he was allergic to his own snot (Kerchoo!) early in the series, perhaps the pilot episode.

LMAO. I actually always found Paul funny, even in the later seasons.
bringback70'stv 07-11-2006, 12:30 PM I liked Paul but they gradually pulled him off the show, whether his choice or theirs. I like him better than Kevins other friends especially Giovanni Ribissi.

Actually, Giovanni Ribisi was the actor's name; his character was Jeff Billings.
Again, this is another case of the show being authentic.
You make friends in elementary school, but as you go through the rest of school, you sometimes drift apart.
Kevin developed a little wilder side, while Paul did not.

In "Carnal Knowledge" Paul did have that affair with that daughter of his parents' friends, didn't he? IIRC she was in college studying marine biology.

Yeah, but even then he seemed mature about it.
