View Full Version : How freely do you use the word "love"?
barwars 07-31-2005, 07:59 PM Do you tell people you love them all the time, including casual friends and relatives??
Or are you more likely to use it "only when you really mean it"? I put that in quotes, because you can't really judge whether someone really means it or not.
Central Perk 07-31-2005, 08:16 PM I use it casually, but not that often if it that makes any sense.
Magnum 07-31-2005, 08:20 PM I don't use that word with people very often. I show my love other ways, a pat on the back, bbq'ing for friends and family (if a steak off my grill does not let someone know I care, no amount of words can), praise, and standing behind someone I respect.
Things I love? A sunny day that is not too hot or humid with a blue sky. When someone smiles at me and says something nice.
swedeace 07-31-2005, 08:23 PM As far as people goes, I don't really use the word "love." I've never been in love and usually don't think of expressing that I love my family members. Towards my family, I use it especially when someone is out of town by calling them and telling them "love ya." So, no, I don't even use it casually, not even with friends.
I think of "love" as a strong word/action to just use freely. I mean, I don't really think about it when I am talking with people.
Penny Lane 07-31-2005, 08:39 PM I love my husband and my kids and my family(well, most of them) very much! But I rarely tell them so! :( I need to work on that! :D

I find myself in the same predicament. It seems the ONLY time I say "I love you" to my parents or to my sister is whenever they are away OR there is a crisis happening. Other than that, I don't even think twice about it. Tsk-tsk-tsk....
G-Force Glockstar 07-31-2005, 09:37 PM I don't really say "I love you" much at all, I usually just show it.
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 07-31-2005, 09:39 PM I hardly ever say it. At all. To say goodnight to mom, to my dog...I don't say it to friends or anything. I can be a really touchy feely person but ONLY when I open up which takes me FOREVER to do.

Titania 07-31-2005, 10:06 PM Wellll...sort of split.
Ill use it casually, in context of being exceptionally happy or something- "ohhh!!! i love you!!!" but seriously for real "i love you", not too often. the "l bomb" is a big deal to me in a relationship.
oh, but a few drinks and ill tell everyone at a party that i love them sooooo much. ;)
AllIWantIsYourClutch 07-31-2005, 10:28 PM I have problems saying "I love you" to my parents.
So do I.
Hollow 07-31-2005, 10:42 PM I have problems saying "I love you" to my parents.
me too. even if i mean it, it feels so uncomfortable. i forced myself to say it to my mom when she was near death because i knew it could well be the last time i ever saw her. i'm glad i did.
Dutabi84 08-01-2005, 12:13 AM *raises hand*
I too, have this problem. I don't know why, they're just hard words to spit out, even to a parent. ****, I feel weird saying it to a puppy.
Karen* 08-01-2005, 01:06 AM I use the word very freely, but only when describing something that I feel that way about. It's very difficult for me to say it to someone. But sometimes, it will just come out naturally.
I always say I love you to family members. Whenever I hear people say "though we were never told it we knew that we were loved."about their families, I was always greatful that we weren't like that.
vienna waits 08-01-2005, 02:47 AM I do say I love you to my pets.
Brian Damage 08-01-2005, 11:27 AM I tell my wife and kids "I love you" constantly.
*MIBabe03* 08-01-2005, 11:32 AM I tell my mom I love her everyday. I just think, what if something happens and she doesn't make it home or something. I know it's dumb to think that, but I worry about that sometimes. I don't get to tell my dad that much, because he's gone by the time I wake up. I use it often with family. I've never been with a guy to tell him that I love him and stuff.
MsOrange 08-01-2005, 11:47 AM I love you all!
Courtnee 08-01-2005, 12:54 PM I love you all!
awww! we love you too! :D :mrt: :biglove:
MissZero 08-01-2005, 04:10 PM I say it to my mom and I say it to my good friends but I have NEVER said it in the "I'm IN love with you" way..if that makes any sense at all
MsOrange 08-01-2005, 04:13 PM about the only time I say "I love you" is to Jonathan, and that's a "in love with you" type way. I don't guess I really tell anyone else I love them, i should, but i honestly just do not think about it.
