While watching the GI DVD's, I've noticed a few things that I'd like to mention. If anyone else has noticed these things as well or other items, I'd love to read about them.

So, in no particular order:

1) In "Bang, Bang, Bang" in the final scene when Gilligan's little chimp friend throws the (what turns out to be harmless) plate. The Professor, Gilligan and the Skipper (believing the plate to be made of plastic explosive) head to the other side of the hut. Just before the plate hits and shatters, The Professor covers his ears, Gilligan covers his mouth, and the Skipper covers his eyes; bringing to mind the classic monkey statue of "Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil, and See No Evil." I wonder if this was a subtle way of showing that the chimp just made a monkey out of them.

2) In "Mine Hero" when Mary Ann and Ginger are gathering their metal items to contribute to the anchor (BTW, why couldn't they have just used a rock for an anchor) the metal box that Mary Ann uses for her items, is the Jewel Cracker box that was dug up in "New Neighbor Sam" and I'm not sure, but I think Gilligan uses it again in "Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow" when he's passing out his possesions.

3) The mask Gilligan uses to scare the girls at the end of "And Then There Were None" was one of the masks found in the magicians crate in "It's Magic."


#'s 2 & 3 were a nice use of previously seen items and added to show's continuity.


4) In "Up At Bat" if you look behind the coffin you can see part of the purple mattress pad that is later used for the coffin/hide-a-bed gag. And if you'll look behind Ginger as Gilligan jumps out of the window, you'll see a painting that was in Dr. Balinkoffs castle (A nice touch for a dream sequence that is coming from Gilligan's subconcious)

5) It looks like the same out-board motor was used in "Gilligan vs Gilligan" and "The Kidnapper."

In Up at Bat, that is Dr. Balinkoff's castle. He also made a second appearance in Ring Around Gilligan.

There are a few other things I've also noticed.

1) In All About Eva, if you'll look on the top of the food locker, you'll see the slightly modified on/off switch that Gilligan used in "Operation: Steam Heat." Also the small box that Eva uses to hold the spark plugs, turns up again as the box the Professor uses to hold the glass ball and chain he uses to hypnotize Mary Ann.

2) In the scene in "Gilligan's Personal Magnetism" where Mary Ann is holding the glass containing the banana/papaya/coconut drink; as (invisible) Gilligan begins to drink, you can see a small tube below Mary Ann's hand that runs from the bottom of the glass into her sleeve. And there's also the earlier scene where Gilligan knocks the door of the hut off it's hinges and onto the Skippers head; at first the side of the door with the Minnow's lifepreserver is facing out and it quickly changes to facing in.

...In "And Then There Were None" Gilligan decides that he is a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde because he had been alone with each of the women. The Skipper tells him that they had been together when Ginger disappeared and Gilligan says that he had been alone with her a minute before and alone with Mrs. Howell when she picked out the dress for him to wear...

BUT

Why didn't the Skipper then point out to him that he and Gilligan were together when they heard Ginger scream and that Mr. Howell had seen Mrs. Howell and been alone with her AFTER Gilligan was already wearing the dress and being a decoy?

...In "And Then There Were None" Gilligan decides that he is a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde because he had been alone with each of the women. I also thought it very strange that with the women still missing, everyone decides to turn in for a good nights sleep. Seems to me that they would've kept searching night and day until they found them; working in shifts if necessary. After all, didn't they search all night when they saw Mrs. Howell being carried off by a gorilla in season 1? Plus, if they took the Professor's theory seriously, wouldn't the next step be to make sure that they all stayed in sight of each other at all times?

GIlligan mentions he kght be killed by a brother that he claims not to have in V FOR VITAMINS.

SEER GILLIGAN:
Even AFTER the professor realizes "Gilligan read my mind" he still doubts it later when Ginger is able to and tells him.

LOVE ME LOVE MY SKIPPER:
Lead Music Director GERALD FRIED's credit is rather low onscreen, not placed up higher onsncreen.

GILLIGAN'S LIVING DOLL:
The credits are WHITE, not the otherwise constant yellow, but are the same "Dom Casual": credits used by everythen in almost EVERY show of the daysand the robot takes Gilligan's rabbits foot which the withcx docotr (Eddie Little Sky) in VOODOO in that episode, possesses.Also, the Howells (even for Mrs.Howell) display INCREDIBLE STUPIDITY by thinkijng that the robot can build ANYTHING,or at least can build a bridge in FIVE minutes ("89 years...." says the reobot."Thurston..do you realize..""A little too old"). Also a familair Hanna-Barbera and Gumby soudn effect is heard when Tina Louise kisses the robot, a "Cat smear" ((Rankin/Bass's 1969 classic FORSTY THE SNOWMAN has a similiar use of this effect, credited to "Phil Kaye" who was also credited for that and others in ROGER RAMJET)



THE POSTMAN COMETH:
"Dr.Zorba Gillespie" is a greta way to combine the two now-forgotten and unsung doctor primetime htis of the day,DR.KILDARE (Dr.Gillespie) and BEN CASEY (Dr.Zorba,or was it the other way around)


GHOST A GO GO: The professor's plan to plant dummies in the ghost's boat as provben by its exploding would have had some problems, and how do THEY know if they could bring the boat bakc that there STILL wouldn't be an explosion..or the ghost might NOT be in the boat WITH them..: (of course we see otherwise)

ALLERGY TIME:
Not only did the Professer DEVELOP ananti-allergy vaccine before knowing its cause..but he trusts a soap which he crafted to be non-allergneic.

THE FRIENDLY PHYSICIAN:
The castle shots is said to be from Vincent PRic'es 1961 PIT & PENDULUM and is used in UP AT BAT and I think also in the one right after FRIENDLY PHYSICIAN, V FOR VITAMINS. The professor could redo the mad doc's switch-mind contraption and make a time mahcine,,going bakc before the cruise BUT no show would haopen..

V FOR VITAMINS:
ANother castle scene, maybe the same as FRIENDLY PHYSICIAN and UP AT BAT;Bob Denver's son Patrick as a stand-in, Denver denying the SMILE ! YOU'RE ON MARS CAMERA brother.

A minor continuity prob in "Gilligan vs Gilligan" When the spy is questioning the Skipper the spoon/antenna on the pocket knife goes from a right angle to straight out and back again.

It's been awhile since I've been able to sit back and watch the dvd's, but I did notice some plot points that caught my attention:

In the episode "Gilligan's Living Doll", the Professor claims the robot is watertight, yet in the early part of the episode, you see him replacing the robot's back panel by simply screwing it back on; in fact you can even hear how flimsy the back panel is attached when he screws it back on.

In "Up At Bat," the fight scene in Gilligan's dream sequence gives a wink to the popular series "Batman," by super-imposing words with each blow. But since this scene is supposed to represent a dream of Gilligan's, he would have now way of knowing about the series since it debuted in 1966 and they were shipwrecked in 1964.

In "The Return Of Wrongway Feldman," I'm surprised that noone thought to rig some pontoons on Wrongway's plane and simply sail it back to Hawaii; thereby eliminating the need to know how to "fly" the plane.

In "Mine Hero," why did the Professor need to scavenge around for metal to melt down to use as an anchor? Did it ever occur to anyone to simply find a rock big enough to use as an anchor? Or he could simply melt down all those cannon balls found in the treasure chest.

In "Gilligan Gets Bugged" it's explained how Gilligan was showing signs of having been bitten by the deadly variety of bug. But since the other castaways never showed the same symptoms after having been bitten themselves, it never occured to them that that indicated they weren't bitten by the deadly variety of bug at all.

As I mentioned these are just a few fun observations.

I did notice some things the other day.

In "Operation: Steam Heat." The 3-Way bamboo connection that Gilligan uses to try to accommodate the Girls, the Howells and the Skipper needs for hot water is closed off at the ends. There's a point where Gilligan holds it at an angle to where you can see into the ends, and you can see that it's not hollow at all.

In "Forget Me Not" I thought it was interesting that when Gilligan brings the amnesia afflicted Skipper to the Professor for help and the Skipper asks "Who are you" he replies "Who am I? I'm the Professor." Even though everyone addresses him as "The Professor" I would've thought he would have introduced himself such as "My name is Professor Roy Hinkely" but you always call me "The Professor." Just a thought.

In "Take A Dare," I found it odd that none of the castaways could hear something as noisy as a helicopter approach the island not once, but twice, without hearing it. And you'd think that the producers of the Take A Dare show would have scouted the island first before dropping off Barkley.

In "Meet The Meteor" the Professor remarks how the cosmic rays aged both the bamboo screen and the tree in a few moments, yet all of the other nearby trees and foliage remained unaffected.

I just can't get over how man mistakes there are. I don't get how I can never see them either. Great job

In the one where Maryanne thinks she's Ginger, Gilligan is briefly hypnotized into believing he's Maryanne while wearing a towel. When he runs away, they show a shot of a woman running in a towel. I think it was some kind of subliminal suggestion to increase the believability of Gilligan's delusion.

In the second episode "Home Sweet Hut" (where the castaways are building their huts), Ginger says to Mary Ann "Your fudge is burning!", Gilligan tries to open the door, the hut collapses and there's nothing inside. Um, how/why would Mary Ann be making fudge on their second day on the island, especially when there's nothing inside the hut anyway.

In "My Fair Gilligan", Gilligan dreams he's a king. Wait a minute, how can he be king when both of his parents (the Howells) are still alive? He can be a prince maybe, but his father would still be the king. This always bugged me for some reason.

Also, in "Meet the Meteor" Gilligan has yet another whacked dream where everyone is 50 years older (although they look more like they became hippies [long hair, beards, etc.] and stayed that way ever since). However the three "senior" castaways (Howells & the Skipper) are still alive, even though they would be about 100 by then. Perhaps it would have been too sad to say that anyone had died.

I just noticed that in "Little Island, Big Gun," when "The Indigo Mob" guys show up, the taller one on the left (for whatever reason) had his voice dubbed in by the late character actor Herb Vigran (at least that's who it sounds like.)

In "X Marks The Spot" it's stated that the warhead will destroy everything within 100 miles. If the military really sends recon to check the area for natives and pleasure craft in the area, they certainly would've found the nearby islands occupied by all those natives that were frequently dropping by the island.

What always amazed me was the fact that the radio announcer (Charles Maxwell) must've been that stations only D.J.. It seemed that whenever the radio was turned on, day or night, his was the voice that was most often heard. He sure must've racked up a lot of overtime.

In "Man With A Net" not only is it hard to believe that Skipper couldn't overpower Lord Beasley and take his flare gun long enough to fire off a shot. But it never occured to any of them that if a boat was awaiting a signal to come pick him up, then it was well within range to quickly fashion a raft and paddle out to the boat themselves.

In "The Friendly Physician" why would the castaways sail back to their island after having taken control of the Dr.'s castle. You'd think they'd have stayed long enough to find a radio and contact the authorities. There must've been one, and if not, I'm sure the Professor could've rigged one out of the Dr.'s equipment. Or they could've at least quickly salvaged the Dr.'s boat and used the engine to propell a raft.
