I remember watching a marathon on TV one about a month ago & all of the episodes dealt with Thelma getting married & she'd eventually dump the guy at the end except for Keith. There had to be at least 4 or 5 of these episodes & they basically revolve around the same plot. One with some mechanic dude,One with a much older man,The one with the african dude,the one with Keith & I'm pretty sure there more I left out.

Probably because there was not much to do with the character. Which is a shame. BerNadette is so beautiful and talented. The character was made such a goody goody that with a character like that there isn't much you can do. Ever had a goody good friend that you grew up with and never really did anything with? I had friends that were not goody two shoes and we found so many crazy things to do. But not the one that was so good she was boring. ooops, getting off track here. LOL

I feel you on the goody good friend lol haha. It makes me think of one girl who calls me constantly. Ok we're 18 years old.. but she's just so GOOD lol.. She graduated High school with str8 A's & her gpa is like a 4.0 which is good.Her parents still have a curfew for her & it's 10:00 pm.Plus she doesn't like to go to the movies & watch scary films.. or anything rated R or Pg-13. She still like to watch kiddy stuff lol but I seriously got off subject as well lol!

Don't forget it was also recycled for JJ too.

I think a part of the problem was that the show was written by white males who just couldn't relate with a black female growing up in the ghetto.

Georgiaboy too funny LOL. It's okay to get off the subject sometimes, especially in this instance. We can relate to the goody character in real life. Brian, you are right abt that writer thing. I guess they wanted to show that even in the ghetto you could stay on the righteous path. Imagine if this show were around today with the writers that exist. Do you think they could come up with some plots for Thelma???

I could see Thelma dealing with an abusive boyfriend, bullemia, taking pills to keep her studying for exams. Stuff like that.

Speaking of Thelma's engagements, what happened to Ben "Keith" Powers? Does anyone know?
