I don't know if I'd complain, but I wouldn't want my avatar to look like every other one. Its not the fact that she's in the avatars thats the problem, its just that everyone seems to have almost identical pictures of her, and it makes it complicated to see who is who.

Shes a very attractive woman , model pretty, yet "human" looking, so i dont mind seeing her in the avatars...however, it does go to show that a lot of people would rather identify themselves witha stranger ; rather than put their true selves or a true part of them in there( Not me ). Thats why i have my fave bridge in there rather than some TV actor or other person with whom ill never have any kind of true life experience.

I was talking to someone about this the other day. Kelly was the only American Idol winner that really made any sense, aside from maybe Carrie, but she still has a while to prove herself. Clay (although he lost), Ruben, and Fantasia all seem to be washed up already. Whereas I think Kelly has just begin to hit her stride. She's really talented, IMO. Not that the others aren't, but she's the only one that continues to be an "idol", who has really shed the AI experience.

Don't you ever ****ing tell me what I think or don't think ever again. I didn't realize listening to both Janet Jackson and Rush in 10 minutes is "liking one genre of music".

the people who champion rock that love AI say "pop music sucks and is evil" and the sort, and then profess their love for Carrie, who is every bit as "pop" as the hated Hilary and Lindsey. It's just kinda funny to blast all things pop music and then like someone who is definately more pop than rock.

Im starting to wonder if you have actually even heard any of the idols sing because if you think Carrie is as pop as Lindsey Lohan, than you either never heard her or don't know what pop is.

Have you HEARD Carrie? She's COUNTRY. She is NOTHING like Hilary.

yes, they won't stop playing her song on the radio here, and I don't even listen to country stations. Her song is getting played on pop stations, channels that mostly play Gwen, Mariah and Kelly.

You're saying that its wrong to like one artist of a particular genre if you generally dont like that genre. I understand what you're saying. I'm not stupid. It just makes no sense to say that just because a person dislikes a majority of pop music that they aren't allowed to like one artist.

I don't get why all the "pop music sucks, rock music rules" people are such American Idol fans. Disco in the 1970's was probably more respected by the average rock musician (and disco was HATED by rockers) than American Idol.

It's just kinda funny to hate pop music yet champion rock and love Carrie Underwood, she is definately closer to pop than rock.
i don't hate pop music.. i don't believe i ever said i did. i'm more of a metal head but i still like pop, techno, opera, bluegrass, classical and pretty much every genre in existence.

I'm not too keen on it myself. But because you don't like it, doesn't mean you have to be rude to people who do like it. And question their fandom and explain to you why they like it constantly. If you know what the heck you're doing (as a mod, that is), you would know better than to screw around with the extra features.

Personally, I think it's a pretty nifty feature for the mods to have. I don't have to report my threads to a mod of their respective board to lock it...I can simply lock it. That's all the use I get out of the extra features anyway.

I think you would be alright. There are a few people here who were mods before they turned 13 (Superstar for one, he's 14 now). And I don't see why you would have a prob getting TJ or Seth to appoint you as co-mod at a board that has another mod for that reason. I co-mod the Mama's Family board with Leigh Ann and she has other boards she mods, so she doesn't do a lot at the MF board. Whereas with me, I only have 1 board so I do almost all the work.

Perhaps you could get them to let you mod on a trial basis - for maybe two weeks to prove that you can do the job.

One thing that I have noticed ever since I was modded in 2002 was that being a moderator is really no different than from being a regular member. I still feel like a regular member except I can close threads and stuff. When I asked Todd to become one it was never about "having the power." I just wanted to help.

If you want to be a moderator there are a few questions you should ask yourself first:

1. Can I be fair and unbiased, even if my best friend commits a violation of the board rules?
2. Can I handle the criticism from other members if I have to close a thread or edit someone's post?
3. Can I make good decisions on a regular basis when it comes to moderating?

yeah, those are good things to consider. honestly i don't think i'm mature enough to moderate a board like the main chit chat board. consciously or unconsciously, i'd end up being biased. ie not closing fights that amuse me, taking no action when someone i like breaks the rules. i'm sure that's why there are only adults moderating it.

1. Normally, the people that I do talk to on here dont cause too much commotion. My biased days are over.
2. Lately, I've handled criticism well. I've given no reason for someone to criticize me on this board. And if I did close a thread, there would be a reason for it, and other's should see that.
3. Absolutely.

who the **** said I think people should be limited to one genre of music? Have you SEEN my music collection? Kiss my ass seriously for that comment.

I cant talk for everyone else, but I am a big pop fan, alongside with AI. NSYNC, Britney, Christina, BSB, Hilary, etc.. I love it all. I loved 99-01 with all the pop music out there. I hated it when people were all 'its not real music', etc., but I dont care. I listen to what I like. Im also a big AI fan. Clay, Kelly, Kim, Diana..

And Im not a big rock fan. Least not todays rock. I like my bubblegum.

And to Barswars or whatever it is, Clay is not washed up. I just saw him [twice] on Friday and he was on Good Morning, America as part of the summer concert series. As of now, he is on a 25 city summer 'jukebox' tour and is already planning his upcoming Christmas concert AND is still working on his CD, due early next year. :snob:

O_O

Singing as part of a morning show summer concert series does not make you 'washed up'. Morning shows usually have the artists that are currently on tour right now, or releasing a new cd. Hence why Kelly Clarkson, Hilary Duff, BSB, Will Smith, Destinys Child, etc have all been on morning shows as part of the summer concert series this summer alone.

And FYI: Clay had the largest audience to date this summer for the concert series. **********
