Did anybody ever hear about a Good Times motion picture that was supposed to be made a few years ago? I think Vivica Fox was supposed to play Florida. You used to be able to find info on the net and even on imdb.com, but all of the information is gone. Maybe it was just a rumor.

"Good Times" TV Series to Become "Good Times" the Movie
From Rebecca Murray,

Classic 70s Comedy Gets Ready for the Big Screen
It seems every other TV series from the 1970s that might even remotely be suitable fodder for a movie has already been done, or there's a project currently in the works. Now one more series has been snatched up - "Good Times."
Creative Production Group won a battle for the film rights to "Good Times," a Norman Lear sitcom that ran from 1974 through 1979. The series starred Esther Rolle, John Amos, Ja'net DuBois, and made a star of the ultra-skinny Jimmie Walker.

There's no word yet on the cast or when production may start. CPG's Rodney Omanoff and Graham Kaye will produce the film.

They should know by now that making movies out of sitcoms are a bad idea! How many people went to see The Honeymooners? Even Bewitched didn't do as well as expected.

It depends how they approach the movie. It has to be cast right.

thats what I'm talking about

you can't have halle berry as florida

Or Beyonce as thelma

you have to have the right people

if she was still living, Nell Carter would've been a good choice for Florida, she would've been about the same age that Esther was at the time too.

He might be too old and established but Danny Glover could do James.

I heard Loretta Devine was a front runner to land the role of Florida. I am pretty sure that was just a rumor.

quite true.

A black Honeymooners didn't felt right. As much I like Cedric, he was wrong for the part.

I tends to stay away from those movies.

For sure, I won't see Dukes Of Hazzard movie.

The Original is the best!

There was some pretty good movies based on tv shows.

I like The Addams Family movies and The Brady Bunch movies.

the thing about those movies that the producers didn't change a thing.

Is this Good Times movie supposed to more drama or more like a comedy, or both like the TV show? I don't know if they will make this movie ultra-depressing or if it will have humor. You never know what Hollywood will try to pull.

I suppose J.J. will be a wannabe rap star, Thelma will look like she belongs in Destiny's Child, and Michael will probably be going around torching the homes of the white and rich. They will probably do something stupid like having a small part for people like Adam Sandler or Jim Carrey.

Nothing has been decided about the premise of the movie.
