If Jack was not really gay, why did he get so offended when Mr. Roper often offended him?

Because Roper kept on teasing Jack most of the time he came in contact with him

You know what, that is the best question I ever saw posted on this baord. It's a shame I never thought it. But yes why would jack get offended when he decided to move in with two girls and put himself in that situation.

But Jack knew he wasn;t gay, so why get mad.?-lol It wasn;t like Mr. Roper was teasing him in public, it was just around the girls inside the apartment

Saying he was gay was the first thing Janet could think of to let Jack move in. And I have to say, if I had to say I'm gay to live with two guys and the landlord kept making jokes about it, I would be upset too-lol! :D

Maybe it was part of his "act" as a gay - afterall, a true homosexual would be offended - no?

Meanwhile, Roper was one to talk - Mrs. Roper had more male hormones than he did! (and that's not a slam on her)!

Jack put himself in that situation by moving in.

I wouldn't say that he was offended when Roper or Furley made fun of him, but I would say he was more annoyed. I can see why it would annoy him, always being teased about being gay when you're really straight. I know it would annoy me if I were in his shoes. As the show goes on, you can see that Jack enjoys kidding around with Roper and Furley (Roper especially) with preding that he is gay, and making all the gestures to go with it just to get Roper flustered. That is sort of his way of making fun of them back

When Mr Roper Teased Jack about being Gay, jack probably was more annoyed because it was done in a way to let Jack know-"i don;t like you because you are gay"

I'm sorry, but I would've been pissed if that was the only excuse that Janet could come up with. Pretending to be gay. I don't think so.

How else was Jack suppose to live with the girls if Janet didnt say that he was a homosexual?

She could have said Jack was her cousin.

Still wouldn't have worked. What would Chrissy say about Jack? She couldn't say Jack was a relative because he knows that the girls aren't related

Roper should know that eagle eye Janet wouldn't let her "cousin" try anything with her roommate.

I never thought of that because Roper said that he'd never let a guy live with two girls. He never said that a male relative couldn't live with them

Here's something I've wondered about the premise of the show: The landlords (esp. Roper) were so against males and females living together (in their building) & the "hanky-panky" that might go on between the different sexes.
But, when Jack and Larry sometimes jokingly pretended to be lovers, they often just rolled their eyes and and walked off?
Seems like the first situation would be more tolerable (to an old-fashioned prude-type old man) than the second! :happyface

Because men are usually really into "proving their manhood", and I guess Jack just got annoyed when Roper and Furley kept inserting all the gay stuff.
