View Full Version : Radar O'Reilly's teddy bear LadyTheatreDiva 07-17-2001, 01:26 AM What was Radar O'rielly's teddy bears name? Elisabeth 11-13-2001, 09:52 PM Eveywhere I have read, it has said that Radar's teddy bear never had a given name... sarageme 07-20-2002, 11:48 PM I think they mention the name of it when Radar leaves the bear with hawkeye and returns home or wen they place it in the time capsule. I'm not sure but it's my guess treky 07-21-2002, 01:00 AM I don't think they ever said it's name. TJL 07-21-2002, 09:23 AM As far as i can remember, the bear had no name. And, If you look at the "Time Capsule" episode, you'll notice that the bear they use is a different one from the one Gary Burghoff used throughout the series... What happened to the original? tdf4077 12-08-2006, 09:46 PM So I totally decided to surf some of the older posts on here... This was a good question...does anyone know what happened to the bear (both in the series and elsewhere)? And, while on that topic, anyone know where there are props of the show besides the Smithsonian and Tony Packo's? M*A*R*G*A*R*E*T 12-09-2006, 12:57 PM I never remember hearing Radar refer to his bear with a real name. Actully, besides the episode where B.J. almost rips his head off, I can't remember Radar talkting directly to the bear! And as for tdf4077's question, I don't know of anyother places where MASH props are displayed. The rest of them are probably privately owned by collecters, but I read somewhere that Radar's bear is still in the studio storage! tdf4077 12-09-2006, 10:12 PM I did read once about this guy that had a lot of MASH memorabillia in Dayton, but I just wasn't sure if those were props or not... In 1983, a lagre collection of M*A*S*H memorabelia was put on display at the Smithsonian Institution. The O.R. set and the Swamp were recreated as part of the exhibit, complete with all props and set decorations. I had the pleasure of seeing this exhibit in person - It was amazing to see those sets up close! The list of props and stuff is quite extensive (I have a program from the exhibit, the list is four pages long!) and as far as I know it all was donated to the Smithsonain archives. tdf4077 12-09-2006, 10:54 PM In 1983, a lagre collection of M*A*S*H memorabelia was put on display at the Smithsonian Institution. An in Complete Book of MASH, they have pics from that exhibit. Well, being dumb I guess, in 1994 I figured the exhibit would still be there, so I planned this trip to DC w/my grandparents with the sole purpose being to see the exhibit...all they had left was a Mudhens pennant (and living in Toledo now, that's no biggie), a martini glass, and a final episode script and one more thing that I can't remember right now....I was so devastated for like months!! Aw, that must have been horrible when you discovered that it wasn't there! I would have been so disappointed! tdf4077 12-11-2006, 08:35 PM It was! It was probably one of the first really big disappointments....my poor grandparents were so upset for me, too...just thinking about it makes me sad! :( Jaina 12-13-2006, 01:06 AM That really would suck, but don't feel too bad. When I read about the exhibit I assumed that it was still there too. And back to Radar's bear. I don't remember hearing a name, and it definitely was a different bear in the time capsule. I'm sure I heard/read somewhere that the original bear was part of the Smithsonian exhibit, I don't know what happened to it afterwards though. PS My dad has almost the identical bear to Radar's, except his is about 3 feet tall (OMG, it's taller than Radar)! :D Scoobiedoo30 12-22-2006, 05:30 PM I wonder what really happen to to Radar's Teddy Bear tdf4077 12-23-2006, 12:35 PM Hmmm...maybe we should all write to someone....but whom? Scoobiedoo30 12-24-2006, 12:35 PM we can write Radar does anyone have an Address for Radar tdf4077 12-26-2006, 01:08 AM I did a really long time ago, but I don't even know where to start getting addresses now without buying a membership to one of those sites... I wish I knew someone who already had a membership that would help me look up some |
