What is your all-time favorite episode of M*A*S*H and why?

My Favorite episode would either be Private Charels Lamb or Fallen Idoal. Private Charels LAmb because it really shows how sweet Radar is. Fallen Idol becuase I know what it's like to have your hero turn out to be not super human.

I agree. Radar could hardly get the message out in the end. I made up a fanfic myself where he actually survived.(it's possible, they said they found no bodies. He could have.)

My all time favorite Mash episodes are the one when BJ gets mad at everyone b/c they keep saying what a great guy Trapper was, and how Trapper was the best practical joker, and so BJ pulls this killer joke on Hawkeye, and the one where Hawkeye has to date the clumsy nurse, Edwina. I love that one! I love when she almost knocks the Swamp over! ROFL

Well,obviously the last episode,but besides that, the one when hawkeye didn't get back in time to say goodbye to trapper,he meets up with bj,they get drunk, much to maj.burns and hot lips chagrin and we find out that one col. potter will be taking over. i can't think of another show in which there was a big change in characters and everything was just as good if not better!

I agree with CCRYDER, they did a fine job in the transition of new characters. One of my many favorite scenes is where BJ is introduced to Frank Burns, BJ is sozzled and says "stow it feret face!"

There were too many good ones for me to have a favorite. One I loved was when Hawkeye refused to bath until Charles stop playing his Horn. In the end they ran over the horn with a jeep and hosed them down with a firehose.

My two favorite episodes: when radar gives Colonel Potter the horse. The second when Hawkeye finds out that he is dead and cannot reach his dad. This episode was comic yet really brought the hopelessness and absurdity of war.

Any episode that has Col. Flagg. That guy was such a riot!

Movie Tonight, with Radar's John Wayne impersonations, the Father Mulcahy sound-alike contest, and when they were all fighting in the OR at the beginning.

I have more than one favorite episode.

I loved the show from the perspective of the injured soldier that ad a tracheotomy (sp?). It was extremely well done and I'd watched the show wondering what it was like from the patient's perspective.

"Tuttle," very, very cute!!

News Reel episodes.

The Reunion Peg planned for the families of the MASH clan.

And "Death take a holiday" (Christmas at the 4077th finds the surgeons struggling to keep a mortally wounded soldier alive, even if it's only through the holiday) makes me sob uncontrollably.

I don't know what the title of the episode is but in it, Colonel Potter's horse gets colic while he's away. That episode was funny because there was this line of soldiers carrying buckets of hot water for the horse to drink. Suddenly, you hear this thump as the horse (silently) pukes on the wall offscreen.

3. Movie Tonight: Potter gets a copy of "My Darling Clementine." The film is so full of splices, that the members of the 4077th make up their own entertainment. Singing, Radar's impressions and the Fr. Mulcahy Sound-A-Like Contest.

2. Abyssinia Henry: Henry gets his orders to go home. In the last scene, only Gary Burghoff and the producers knew what was written, so when Radar comes in and tells everyone that Henry was shot down, the reactions of the cast were real.

1. Adam's Ribs: A classic. Hawkeye can't stand the food at the 4077th ("A river of liver and an ocean of fish!") so he goes out of his way to order ribs and sauce from Chicago.

It was also the saddest episode they ever did.The moment

My wife (a nurse) and I just saw that episode. The horse had an impaction in its bowels. I don't know how to put this delicately, but... well, that wasn't the horse's mouth that they were pouring the warm water into!;)

Just in case you don't know, when they killed Henry off they didn't tell the cast. So when Radar walked in with the telegram that was the actors first and real reaction to the news.

Favourite funny episodes: Movie Tonight, Bulletin Board, Carry On Hawkeye, The Party, any ep featuring practical joke outbreaks or Frank getting drunk.

Favourite serious episodes: The Life You Save, Bless You Hawkeye, War Co-Respondant.

Favourite tech episode: Life Time

FIVE O'CLOCK CHARLIE: An inept North Korean bomber pilot tries each day to bomb the ammo dump with the 4077 betting on how far he misses.

DEAL ME OUT: The poker game gets interrupted by a wounded CIA man, a crazed soldier who attacks Frank in the shower and the famous Whiplash Wang

DEAR SIGMUND: Sidney comes to the 4077 for R & R and watches BJ and Hawkeye pull pranks on Frank

The following 2 shows were my favorite episodes simply because they made me laugh harder than any other in M*A*S*H*'s 11 year history.

"The Conference" / 1973 - The whole gang get together for an important "conference", which turns out to be a big poker game. Maj. Sid Freeman makes his 1st appearance, also making his 1st appearance is Col. Flagg, who is actually named "Maj. O'Halloran". It is the same Army Intelligence character though. Also guest-starring is a young John Ritter as a young mentally disturbed soldier. A MUST SEE!

Also: "Adam's Ribs" / 1974 - Hawkeye goes nuts when forced to eat the same food for 11 strait days. "I've eaten a river of liver and an ocean of fish" - Hawkeye Pierce

My favorite?

"Deal Me Out."

The episode brings back Sydney for his second appearence, we're introduced to Sam (Pat Morita) and Edward Winter makes his debut as well. Plus there's plenty of rapid fire jokes.

A classic early M*A*S*H episode.

My all-time favorite Mash episode is "Movie Tonight". I love the song they sing! I also like "Tuttle" and a bunch of others I can't think of right now.

Any Col. Flagg episode is also good! As someone else said, he was a riot! :lol:

I liked the one where they were all coming down with flu and Hawkeye and Margaret ended up running the show. There were a lot of funny lines in that one in spite of them all getting sick. I laughed so hard when Radar walked in when Hotlips was giving Hawkeye his flu shot in the butt.

The number of funny episodes that I think are classics is too numerous to list & I don't think I could pick just one above the rest. As far as the one that makes me remember it over and over again, I'll never forget the episode where Klinger is very sick & can talk to the dead soldier.

A family member who I was very close to died the week before I saw this particular episode when it originally aired in '82. I was fairly young at the time and it made me feel good & sad at the same time that he might be there around me spiritually before moving on to a better place.

It also helped remind me to overlook the small obstacles in life and put them in perspective, which is emphasized in the closing sequence when in the background you hear people complaining about breaking a fingernail, or having to eat chicken for dinner again, etc. while the soldier is leaving the camp & walking down the road towards eternity with all the other dead soldiers, including the enemy.

It's been more than twenty years, but feels like I saw it yesterday.
