Our Family

Starring Paul Reiser and Jean Smart as Rick and Kate Anderson, a set of blue-collared, middle-classed parents of four teenage children. Rick and Kate's kids are Krista, 19 (Allison Munn), Tyler, 17 (Martin Spanjers), Kyle and Chad, both 13 (Cole and Dylan Sprouse). Rick is a meat department manager at the local grocery store. Kate is a florist. Krista is a college freshman at a local community college. Tyler is a high school junior (eleventh graders). Chad and Kyle are seventh graders. Rick and Kate try their best to teach their kids the facts of life and force them to face reality. Rick and Kate's kids are somewhat self-absorbed, selfish, "moochers", and greedy at times (some more than others). To add to the family is Kate's hopelessly single sister, Lisa (Jennifer Coolidge)-who just so happens to fall quickly in love as she does falling out of love when it comes to dating.

Ep1: Pilot Episode:
RIck and Kate are celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary. Krista and Tyler fight over who should give their parents the gift of new silverware after they both claim they each saw the silverware first. Meanwhile, Kyle and Chad decide to make their parents breakfast and bed..yet after almost burning down the house, the twins walk in on (with breakfast in hands) Rick and Kate "celebrating".

Ep2: Just Shut Up:
Kyle and Chad can't seem to stand each other anymore lately. Rick thinks putting them in separate rooms for the first time (in their lives) will solve everything, yet Kate thinks the problem goes way beyond just involving themselves. Kate and Rick are fed up with the twins's fighting and with each other and their "solution" to the problem.

Ep3: Embarrassed:
Tyler is embarrassed to the maximum after being "pantsed" in front of his whole gym class during school by his enraged former girlfriend. At home, Kate, Krista, Kyle, and Chad can't help but laugh, as where Rick "feels his embarrassment" after experiencing something just as traumatic back in the day.

Ep4: Return Of An Old Friend:
Rick's old family friend, Monica Wheeler (Lisa Whelchel) drops by with news of her father's death. Monica's dad was like a "surrogate father" to Rick, ever since Rick's dad was killed in a car crash when he was 10. Monica asks Rick if he would like to say something at the funeral, he accepts. Monica, Rick, and Kate attend her dad's funeral, where Rick has a huge meltdown-Kate is shocked to see him crying like that-since she's never seen him cry in all of the years they have been together. Kate realizes how much Monica's dad meant to Rick. [truly a touching episode]

Ep5: Rerun Madness:
Rick, Tyler, and the twins are hooked on watching a 48-hour marathon of Three Stooges reruns. Meanwhile, Kate and Krista attend a tupperware party, where they get roped into hosting the next one-much to their dismays.
