'American Idol' DVDs Scheduled For November
July 22, 2005
Fans of "American Idol" can relive highlights from the first four seasons on DVD this November. Fremantle Media is producing "The Worst of American Idol: Seasons 1 through 4" and "The Best of American Idol: Seasons 1 through 4," which will both be available Nov. 22.

This would be my choice for the "best of" dvd (seasons 3 and 4 only cause thats all I watched, well season 3 i didnt watch the whole thing but i've basically listend to every media file from it). I think they should have at least one perfomance from every top 12 contestant, with maybe the top 3 having like 4 each or so

"Diva Night in Hell" (Season 3)
The "Ryan Stars" thing (Season 4)
The "Simon Scandal" Corey Clark goof from the finale (Season 4)
...stuff like that

Yeah me too, I hope they have season sets, but at least we get perfomances from all 4 seasons, I havent seen seasons 1 or 2 so now I can see them :woohoo:

If the "The Worst" disc includes the worst performances from top 32/top 12 people, I'll get it. If it's just bad auditions, I won't.

I wanna get the worst of DVD because I want to see William Hung's audition, but I'm more exicted about the best of DVD. If Alone isnt on there I will look like this -> pissed:

Music rights are what's keeping shows like WKRP In Cincinnati, Cold Case and The Wonder Years from coming out on DVD, and even the upcoming Beavis And Butt-Head DVD is excising all the videos for the same reason, considering AI is 20 episodes a season with at least 5-10 copyrighted songs per episode, it would be a music rights nightmare. And even then, many song companies can be very dificult to deal with and some would outright refuse usage on DVD no matter the cost. If they were able to clear all the songs, they would have to sell the DVD for an insanely high price, like over $100 a season, to be able to match how much they'd be spending for the songs.

Best bet to get the full episodes is by tape trading because American Idol in complete season sets will happen the day that we officially see Beavis And Butt-Head with music videos included on DVD.
