Are they missing a picture of The Beatles or what? Damn that's plain.Actually, the official name of the album was The Beatles. They wanted to focus on each of the members' solo songwriting and compositional strengths and have the band play "backup" for each respect member on the songs. It was more to focus on each member individually rather than collectively. Kind of like the KISS solo albums ten years later. But only better.

There was actually supposed to be a poster inside of the band.

How's this for an album title?

The official name for the album was not "Zoso", "Runes", "Symbols", or even "IV".

It was self-titled because.....

Yep - and it confused tons of fans when it came out. Even though the title is actually The Beatles - its been known as "The White Album" by most people. It did have a foldout poster with tons of pictures of all the Beatles. Also had individual large pictures of each of them.

With my album cover art background, it drove me nuts - it was like a copout to me!

My favourites were the covers done by my hero, Roger Dean. A lot of my work was inspired by his.

John Mellencamp's 1996 album Mr. Happy Go Lucky. A very interesting album cover. Unfortunately, Jesus and Satan (drawn by Mellencamp himself) were airbrushed from later pressings to make the cover "Wal-Mart friendly." Because of this, it was rare to find the original artwork at any store, since Mercury Records changed the cover not just for Wal-Mart, but for every vendor, after the disc's first pressing.

Fortunately, the 2005 reissue has Jesus and Satan back intact. Below are both versions.
