View Full Version : Thinking of Steve
Lolac 07-23-2005, 05:20 PM I know Steve had his surgery this past week, and I'm sure he's still in the hospital (today is Saturday) though if all went well he should be home soon. I just wanted him to know that we are thinking about him and hope all is well. Get well soon, Steve! I know they have been working you hard at that hospital, making you walk around and do your breathing excercises, etc. A nice young guy like you should bounce back in no time! We miss you here.

KennedyDean 07-23-2005, 10:02 PM Anybody know which hospital? How excited would he be if we all sent him something as a group?!?
achantz 07-24-2005, 09:37 PM I'm new to the board but I enjoy reading Steve's posts and I can tell his is a good man. What kind of surgery did he have?
TripperFan 07-24-2005, 09:43 PM Thanks for the post Lolac!!
Yeah, I was thinking about him last week a lot too - even while watching t.v. and not even on the boards. He's a great guy and I hope all went well and he's on the mend.
Looking forward to seeing him post and give us a positive update!
Lolac 07-24-2005, 10:50 PM I'm new to the board but I enjoy reading Steve's posts and I can tell his is a good man. What kind of surgery did he have?
He had heart bypass surgery. He had a heart attack a few weeks ago and had stints put in as a stop-gap, but he really needed the bypass operation. He is young and strong, so I'm sure he'll be ok.

SawgrassSteve 07-26-2005, 12:52 PM My friends,
Please pardon this brief post. I'm still quite sore, quite weak, and tire easily. But I wanted to let you all know as soon as possible, that the operation, although met with minor complications, was definitely successfull.
I had the op one week ago today. I just came home yesterday afternoon.
Lolac, thanks, for the hug. And you were right about heart teams. They're outstanding. I'm very thankful for mine. And yes, I am walking and doing my breathing execises.
Tripperfan and the rest, thanks for thinking about me. I thought about you all too, and drew from your positive comments, and prayers in times of need.
KennedyDean, what a lovely thought! I'm fighting back the tears right now, because my breathing is quite shallow, and crying causes me to hyperventilate. Thank you.
You should all know that my June Bride has proven superior to all the challenges of the past week. She has been tireless in seeing to and anticipating my every need.
Thank you all so much. I don't know what I did to deserve such wonderful support from you all, but I hope I keep doing it. ;)

KennedyDean 07-26-2005, 03:45 PM Well, we didn't have time to organize a group gift, because you were in and out of the hospital fast!!! We'll just send Mary Tyler Moore over with a singing telegram. How about that??
SawgrassSteve 07-26-2005, 05:06 PM Well, we didn't have time to organize a group gift, because you were in and out of the hospital fast!!! We'll just send Mary Tyler Moore over with a singing telegram. How about that??
KennedyDean!!!
You'd do that to a heart patient???
Steve
Larry Surrell 07-26-2005, 07:36 PM The singing telegram is a great idea, only we should send Frank Adamo over to sing it. Remember from "Punch Thy Neighbor":
Sawgrass Steve watched a show
Supposed to be funny ho, ho, ho
Look how far this man has gotten
Watching shows that are really rotten
wait, there's more...I'm only kidding!
KennedyDean 07-26-2005, 08:20 PM hahaha That's great larry surelll!!!
Steve- Your right, you probably wouldn't make it through that one!!! I'll agree with larry. We'll send you that telegram to ease your heart. I think if MTM walked in that might be the end of it!!!
TripperFan 07-26-2005, 08:49 PM That's perfect Larry! Especially if Steve COULDN'T get DVD in the hospital and was stuck watching garbage!
And yah, maybe sending Mary in person would be too much at this point ;)
Just so glad you're back to post Steve and most went well. It wouldn't be life without those minor complications I suppose.
Another good thing came from it - my husband's quitting one of his jobs!! I think hearing your story was the one that broke the camel's back! ;) It's a helluva way to drive a point home isn't it?
We'll at least send you a virtual box of crummy buttons with lots of hugs. If you get a medium sized box in the mail - don't open it - it could be a self inflating liferaft!!
Take care, get rested and post when you can. Even brief ones are great! :D
Samme 07-26-2005, 10:14 PM Great reading Steve first messages back and I laughed heartily at the other great responses.
Nice bunch of folks here and great to have "our buddy" back. Welcome back, Steve. We missed ya.
Lolac 07-27-2005, 11:32 AM Welcome back, Steve! So good to hear from you and to know that all is well. You are still sore, weak and tired. Sounds pretty normal. You'll get stronger each day and before you know it, you'll be back doing all the things you love to do. It sounds like you are in good hands. Let us know how things are going.
Lolac
:king:
SawgrassSteve 07-27-2005, 02:15 PM Normal, Lolac?
Well, I'm kind of walking and moving the way Rob did after his skiing accedent in "Don't Trip Over That Mountain," but I guess that's normal for now :( .
TripperFan,
I'm glad to hear your hubby's coming around. We really aren't Supermen, no matter how much we think we are (myself included). And no, there were no DVD players in my hospital. Just as well, though. I couldn't have concentrated for very long on TV anyway, and never even touched the controls until 2 days before my release.
Steve
Carrie 09-01-2005, 02:36 PM Steve, I'm sorry for not being here when you had your surgery. I hope you are doing well. :)
SawgrassSteve 09-01-2005, 07:09 PM Thanks Carrie.
I started Phase II Cardiac Rehab this week. They're treating me gently now, but they'll challenge me when the time is right, I'm sure.
Other than that, although I don't sleep well (side effect?), I'm in very little pain, and am able to get around better and better every week.
Steve
TripperFan 10-02-2005, 01:32 PM Glad to hear things seem to be improving (albeit slowly) Steve. Hang in there - you sound like a strong guy with great family support. By spring you should be running marathons!! :D
SawgrassSteve 10-02-2005, 04:59 PM Thanks, TripperFan!
I hope to enter one no later than spring 2007. Right now, that sounds (and feels) like a long ways away.
Steve
