When Maude started to run for Congress did the show lose something? Did it feel like the show was "jumping the shark?" We probably knew she would get elected. Maybe that is why Bea Arthur quit at the start of the 7th season. She felt the Maude character went as far as she could.

It was a whole new cast and premise. It definitely jumped the shark.
