Do you think they could get away with calling a Japanese character Ah-Chu in this day and age? On a similar subject, I like Pat Morita, but always thought his character on S&S was kind of boring.

Then at some point they made him Japanese. (Pat Morita's true nationality) I wonder if anyone knows the episode where he started being Japanese instead of Chinese? gilligan fanatic 07-28-2005, 11:03 PM he wasn't in that many episodes. How many was he in glenny 07-29-2005, 03:15 PM He was good in the episode about him and Fred opening a Japanese restaurant and the episode about Fred and the sensitivity group. moeee 07-30-2005, 03:29 AM that was a good episode. I only liked him in episode, "Sanford and Rising Son" If he was able to hold his own, he would have been alright. he wasn't an exciting character. Pat Morita was better in the Karate Kid. GARFIELDKOOL 09-16-2005, 10:47 AM was "Sanford and Rising Sun" the one where they open the restaurant at there house? Yes. Brian Damage 09-16-2005, 10:53 AM Ah Chu was an alright character, although his name was utterly ridiculous. glenny 09-17-2005, 10:57 AM Ah Chu was an alright character, although his name was utterly ridiculous. I dont understand. What does the name Ah-Chu mean? Why is it rediculous or controversial? magellan333 09-21-2005, 10:31 PM I dont understand. What does the name Ah-Chu mean? Why is it rediculous or controversial? The 'chu' part is a play on Asian names which often have 'chu' 'chong' etc. The name Ah Chu sounds like the common description of a person sneezing. Kind of degragatory. I like the sensitivity group episode too, but Ah Chu did nothing to make me like it or dislike it. |
