View Full Version : UPN's 'Veronica Mars' to air on CBS
vashti1999 07-22-2005, 11:27 AM CBS is airing four episodes of UPN's critically hailed series, "Veronica Mars," to try and drum up viewers before the next season starts.
Back-to-back episodes will air on CBS starting Friday, July 29, Zap2it.com reported Thursday. The other two episodes will run Aug. 5 and Aug. 12.
"Veronica Mars" will become the first UPN show to air over its larger Viacom sister network, Zap2it.com said.
UPN Entertainment President Dawn Ostroff said "Veronica Mars" needs more exposure to gain "real traction."
"By airing these episodes on America's No. 1 network, CBS, our hope is that even more people will discover how wonderful this drama is and become loyal viewers in the fall," she said.

It'll be interesting to see which show does better.
L&OFan4Eva 07-29-2005, 08:36 PM I'm TiVoing both on two TVs since right now as we speak I'm at my mom's house using her computer since I'm taking care of her for the night *she's recovering from knee replacement and she can't walk for another two days*

To be totally honest, I was watching Degrassi from 8-8:30, and checking out scenes of both Veronica Mars and Arrested Development during the commercials. I must say (I guess I forget sometimes) Arrested Development is so so so so funny. Just a minute's worth cracked me up.
barwars 07-30-2005, 10:46 PM Veronica Mars came in 3rd both hours. Arrested Development came in 5th. Not very good news for either show.
Pavan 07-31-2005, 12:29 AM I think Veronica Mars on CBS at 9pm was tied with the UPN movie for 3rd place. So much for extra exposure, lol. Arrested Development was bad though, tied for last place in the 9pm hour with The WB.

well, third place isn't too bad considering the ratings it scored on UPN.
I'm surprised how it was UPN's lowest rated program because it's the ONLY UPN series I ever hear anyone talking about, besides Top Model.

I am too... it seems to the biggest scripted show for UPN in several years and no one's watching.

maybe CBS and DVD exposure will help Veronica a bit.
Remember that "bad" CBS ratings are usually better than "good" UPN ratings, so all VM needs is maybe 4 million viewers a week and it would qualify as a hit for the network. Buffy at it's peak had 5.2 million viewers on WB and I believe Charmed peaked out around the same number, and those shows lasted a long time.
