So, who watched the PBS special on Bob Newhart that was aired last night? Our local station showed it at 10:00 pm, so I taped it and watched it this afternoon.

I felt it was very nicely done, and I liked the focus on his work rather than an emphasis on his family and personal life (which is his business). I wasn't sure who one or two of the commentators were - I felt that the best ones were the ones that had worked with him over the years (tho it's nice to hear from someone who has made it big who found Bob to be a model). Personally, seeing Suzanne (what is with all that eye makeup!), Bill (he took off his glasses, which he'd left on in all the TV Land Top Ten stuff he's done!), Peter, Marcia, and Jack again was great.

This one's a keeper.

I watched it, & thought it was great! I had forgotten that he had 2 shows in the early 60s. And I remember my father used to have those two record albums of his that they showed-"The Button Down Mind of Bob Newhart" & "Bob Newhart-The Button Down Mind Strikes Back". When I was growing up in the 60s & 70s, we used to listen to them all the time.

You can get all of his old records on CD, now. I just bought one of them, and ordered a 2nd one. When you have to commute 25 minutes, a couple of good comedy routines are a nice way to start the morning!

I just saw it last night and was very pleased with it. It will air again Sunday on my PBS and I will tape it.

American Masters is a very good series, and of course anything associated with Bob Newhart is classy. Very good job!! :D

Check your local PBS station. Ours is running American Masters: Bob Newhart: Unbuttoned on the day after Christmas, and a few hours later after it turns into the 27th.
