3 London Underground Stations Evacuated

LONDON - Three London Underground stations were evacuated at midday Thursday following reports of incidents, British Transport Police said. The Fire Brigade was investigating a report of smoke at one station.

A London Underground spokesman said there were no reports of casualties in the unspecified incidents.

The Warren Street, Shepherds Bush and Oval stations were evacuated. Emergency services personnel were called to the stations, police said.

"People were panicking. But very fortunately the train was only 15 seconds from the station," witness Ivan McCracken told Sky news.

McCracken said he smelled smoke, and people were panicking and coming into his carriage.

Services on the Victoria and Northern lines were suspended following reports of a number of incidents, the London Underground said.

The reports came two weeks after four suicide bombers attacked three subway stations and a double-decker bus, killing 52 others.

Witnesses are mentioning "smoking" with a sour smell - makes me wonder if instead of the usual bombs, they used some sort of chemical warfare this time.

I say its time to come down to their level - if someone wants to become a suicide bomber, then he'll pay for it with his OWN family. This isn't a conventional war we're fighting here - time to fight fire, with fire.

Sounds like one small explosion with one injury, although details are very sketchy. Doesn't seem to be on the scale of the attacks 2 weeks ago.

Some how, I think these are more like copy cat incidents done by somebody who wants attention rather than an organized terror group.

Even though they're smaller, they still have caused the effect that these terrorists are wanting - to scare people and disrupt regular routine. Even if nothing had exploded, it's still a level of terrorism. If it turns out this group isn't linked to Al-Q'ada, they should be punished just the same - they obviously sympathize with them.

Just saying now that they have some perpetrators injured in hospital - GOOD!!!

Didn't know this had been started..oh well.

I don't know if they were copycats or not, I think they were lucky b/c it seems the detonators went off instead of the bombs. Lucky....very lucky. All I have heard so far is 1 injury, thats it. I hope it stays that way.

I think that's going to be it, luckily. And luckily, because they didn't go off properly, they now have forensic evidence they can examine.

I feel badly for that poor guy who was in the blue shirt munching on his sandwich when he was detained. I'm a little surprised that more Muslims aren't rising up against this crap because its making their lives hell too - not only do they have to put up with fear like the rest of us, but they're being profiled to different degrees (which, you can't blame authorities for) and they're also dying in these bombings too.

The reason that guy was detained, was because he fit the description of a man seen running down a road with wires hanging out of his blue shirt. He was released later and he seeme dokay with it.
