Thanks for letting us know. Sorry to hear you got ripped off. I am waiting on her to send first. And it's been two weeks. It was only 15 dvds so I wasn't planning to do her dvds until I got them. Got an email yesterday that she wants to send soon. I probably won't get anything from her.

Can you do me a favor and ask for her address so we can reverse search it. It really chokes me too cause she knew how badly I needed to get replacements and I even told her to straight up tell me whether she planned on completing the trade as I would get it from another source.She insisted that "it was in the mail"

Will do. I asked her for her address when she emailed me yesterday. I'll search my emails in case she gave it to me before. I have emails building up I need to save and delete anyway. I notice she is still on the yahoo grops alot. Maybe a bad trader post should be there to.

This is what I came up with, could not find anything from the reverse addy but a google of the address brought . Anyone here from Oregon? I am going to continue to dig cause I want to fry this SCAMMER!

I found this out. She lied about her address. I looked up the address she gave ommitting the house # and found this:

SHERMAN, ROBERT & BETH
931 Hoffman Rd NE
Salem, OR 97301
(503) 399-2141

As you can see it is 931 not 981.

Her real name is BETH SHERMAN! Now confromt her that you know she lied about her name and address!!

Next time if you have a problem finding an address just seach without the number. It will then list everyone on that street. Thanks to GregT I figured this out on someone I was looking up before with his help.

Mel I appreciate the help but if they lied about the address how would they sign for the package at the address quoted. I believe (however i could be wrong) that this person is an employee of the company that they listed as that is the address to which the package was delivered with signature confirmation.

If anyone else knows other ways to dig up more info on this person it would be greatly appreciated.

I work in the mail room of a large corporation. If they have an incorrect address they will call the phone # listed on the package and get the correct address. Hope this helps. Was just browsing and I saw this post....

I would call the company and ask to talk to the manager or owner... and then tell them the situation and let them know that one of there employees is using the business as a front for illegal activities and fraud. And then ask them for their help... perhaps they know who it is, or you can fax them the signature and they can match it up....

I woudl guess that this would really piss off the boss at the company, and that he would chew them out and hopefully they would make right by you in order to cover their butt! :lol:

I still think I am right. When I reversed checked the phone # you have listed for that business (I looked up the correct one this time) this is what I found:

As you can see it is not the address you listed. I know from experience that I have shipped to the wrong # street address to a friend on accident and the mail person knew there was no such address and delivered it to her home anyways. I think that is what happened in this case. The mail person knew or is used to getting packages made out to an address that does not exist 981. That is how there was a signature for the package.

This is just my thoughts though.

Okay this is what I did. I called the # listed for the company (I have unlimited long distance) and spoke with the owner which answered the phone. They told me that their address is 1118 Lancaster Drive Suite #342. They also said that their address used to be 981 Hoffman Rd. NE which was a home business. I asked if the said person
Carrie Hortt worked for them. They told me she used to. They asked me what it was about and I told them that there may be an internet scam going on to that physical address. They said it is a vacant home in which they own. It still does not explain how there was a signature confirmation.

They further told me that Carrie was in a very bad car accident recently. Unfortunately I could not block my phone # because they have a restriction on their phone that would not let me get through that way so that person does have my phone # but promised not to give it to her. I hope I do not get harrassed now :(

Now at least we know that Carrie Fort is a real person (unless the person who answered was the scammer, but probably not)

Regardless of the severe accident or not I have had 5 people now respond to me that they got nothing and some went back up to 3 months ago.

Way to go Jay and good work Mel. I still haven't heard from her when I asked for her address the other day. I don't think she gave it to me before.

Doesn't anyone else think it odd that the address is for "Encore Entertainment"? And she's using a vacant home address to receive packages?

I'm not holding my breath on this one. None of this smells right to me. (The accident ploy has been used once too often among bad traders.)

Have those affected by Carrie done some sort of check to see if she's had any good trading experiences?

Speaking from personal experience, it is sad that traders are more apt to attack traders that are down than defend those in need of a good word.

If this is any help, I figured if the alleged automobile accident Carrie Hortt was in was severe, it would probably have been reported in the newspaper. I ran a search in the Statesman Journal newspaper (Salem, Oregon) for all articles containing "Hortt", and came up with 2 articles. Nothing since 2002. Go to the newspaper's website at:

At the top of the page is a search box. Type in "Hortt" and select "all articles" from the drop down menu.

They also can't spell and you would think they would have enough sense to use a different name not even close to Fort lol

Maybe the accident is legit but so is the scammer as this has gone on long before the recent "accident"

I t looks like we definately nailed a new scammer as I was contacted by 1 more person who was scammed and on the Yahoo forum another member is asking her where his 80 cd's are. I am glad we caught this person before she became a larger nuisance. Frankly I do not care any more about the 13 dvds as long as she does not get to scam any other people.
