Rumor says American Idol will replace Paula Abdul with Whitney Houston

There might be a new, skeletal face at the judging table for American Idol 5, if rumors are correct. If Paula Abdul goes away (because of the Corey Clark drama? to host another show?), she could be replaced by Whitney Houston. Also allegedly under consideration is Mariah Carey.

The details, from MegaStar: “According to America’s Star magazine, producers of the show are desperate to have Houston on the panel if Paula Abdul leaves to become a judge on spin-off show So You Think You Can Dance?”

andPOP notes that these reports aren’t “credible,” but runs with the idea and says “Whitney is crazy, unpredictable, and unreliable. Potential disaster? No. Best move ever.” The site runs down “Paula vs. Whitney,” comparing the two to find out “why Whitney will be a great judge.”

I hope this isnt true, even though Paula's comments were always off AI still wont be the same without her.

i just can't see this happening. whitney is too big of a person to be associated with american idol.

I heard ABC wanted Paula Abdul as a way to say "We're Sorry" to host there new late night talk show which is suppose to debut sometime in early 2006 after Ted Koppel leaves ABC which also is rumored to end the long running Nightline as its ratings are not what they once were due to all the cable news channels.

But would Paula do well against Leno, Letterman, Conan, etc.???

It wouldn't bother me if they got rid of Paula. I never liked her on the show. Whitney would be entertaining to watch, she's always high or something. You never know what's gonna come out of her mouth. With Paula, she's too predictable.

Whitney on AI I can see, Paula getting a latenight talk show I can't see on any secular universe.

I've tried to watch that stupid, "Being Bobby Brown" and they actually make Britney and Kevin look GOOD!

Thats not the reason shes supposedly leaving, its because she's hosting (or doing something) with So You Think You Can Dance.

IMO the reputible entertainment world has skipped on Whitney. The sympathy and :rolleyes: pitty parties for her are over.

This won't be the way that they will lend her a helping hand. She has got to come clean and sober up IMO for a solid 5 years before she will be staged again. I can't remember her last public embarrassment but it was either the Grammy's or the American Music Awards.

The American Idol producers and staff don't need the pressure/worry of whether or not she will show up "high as a kite"

I can't see Simon nor Randy being happy with that choice.

Without her it wouldn't be as good. It would loose the Paula Simon arguing and there would no longer be someone to compliment everyone.
