She was talking about the first season of MTM. She wore a wig to make her hair look longer, in order for viewers to understand that this wasn't supposed to be Laura Petrie or something.

Now that's news to me! I didn't know that was a wig in the first season. I remember when I some years ago, my mom saying that she had a wig on (or a "fall") but I didn't (or wouldn't?) believer her...makes me wonder how many other things she's been right about over the years that I didn't want to believe!

I didn't know either until I read it in an article. It looked real to me..

"fall" is another word for a kind of wig

I never knew Mary wore a wig. I find it interesting because I think she looks so much better with short hair.
