I just dubbed a 4 hour tape onto a dvd. There is something else I would like to add to the disc from another VHS tape. Can it be done?

There is something else I would like to add to the disc from another VHS tape. Can it be done? vashti1999 07-18-2005, 11:05 AM Not if you already finalized the disc. And it also depends on how much free space is left on the disc if it's not finalized. Brian Damage 07-18-2005, 11:10 AM I didn't go to the menu and press finalize, all I did was record the footage from VHS to DVD. When it ended all I did was hit stop on the machine. I played the disc back to see if it recorded. I hope that helps. vashti1999 07-18-2005, 11:20 AM If there's any notation on your machine letting you know that there's time remaining (blank space) on the disc, you should be able to add more. Brian Damage 07-18-2005, 11:23 AM Well I taped the dvd in EP which is allows about 6 hours worth of taping. I only used 4 1/2 hours. Sorry for being so inquisitive, but this is a new toy for me. phiberosmosis 07-18-2005, 01:43 PM on mine it would say i the corner that there was 1 and a half hours left then when u are done finalize it then u cant record anymore unless its a dvd-rw lordsmurf 07-18-2005, 02:29 PM Putting more than 4 hours on a single discs usually results in poor quality. I'd not do that again. vashti1999 07-18-2005, 04:08 PM Putting more than 4 hours on a single discs usually results in poor quality. I'd not do that again. I usually don't like putting more than 2 and a half hours on a disc myself. When I saw how bad the p.q. of a disc where I put 4 hours of shows, I vowed to never do it again. T-Greg 07-18-2005, 05:00 PM I almost always record in SP. The only exception is for football games, which usually run 3 to 3 1/2 hours, which I'll do it LP....never in EP..it's a waste and blank DVDs are so cheap to buy. Brian Damage 07-18-2005, 07:49 PM Putting more than 4 hours on a single discs usually results in poor quality. I'd not do that again. It was my first time dubbing something. I'll take what you said into serious consideration next time I dub something. Brian Damage 07-18-2005, 07:55 PM So how do you add something to a disc when you already recorded something on it? For instance, how do I record something new from the point when my last dubbing finished? Make sense? BeefyBoyGod 07-18-2005, 08:00 PM Just pressing record when you want to should do the trick. Brian Damage 07-18-2005, 08:17 PM Shouldn't I play the disc to the end of the program I last recorded? Won't that record over what I already dubbed? lordsmurf 07-18-2005, 08:31 PM Shouldn't I play the disc to the end of the program I last recorded? Won't that record over what I already dubbed? That's not possible with DVD. You have to knowingly erase the "RW" disc. And a "R" cannot be erased. RedWhine56 08-08-2005, 01:02 PM I've found the user's manual to be extremely helpful, FYI. :D |
