I read in People magazine that Laurie Metcalf and her hubby Matt Roth just had a baby girl via surrogate. They named her Mae. Their son, Will, is 11.

Didn't they also have a daughter named Zoey? She made a guest appearance in an episode where they did a flashback of other episodes (she played a young Jackie while Michael Fishman played a young Roseanne in drag and John Goodman played a fortune teller in drag)

Yes thats true except that Zoey is not Matt's daughter, but Matt and Laurie did have a boy in 1993.

bite me, my mom was 43 and my dad was 44 when I was born, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Older parents are more settled down and ready to raise kids than someone who is barely out of being a kid herself. I am glad my parents were in their 40's when I was born instead of having parents who were 21 or under (or hell, even 30 or under... IMO, you have wild oats to sow until about the age of 30 comes along). I am happy for Laurie and Matt, She's at an age where she's got her priorities in check.

Fifty is not old. It used to be old at one time but the again 30 was old at one time. 50 is not old.
It may be an explanation to why she used a surrogate but she still looks like she is capable of taking care of a child. Women are having children at an older age then they used to. Many women are having children well into there late 40's, as long as there body allows them they are having children.
