I always liked watching Flashbacks episodes of my favorite shows. I talked to someone yesterday who said they always hated Flashback eps. It can be very enjoyable.

It Depends On What Kind Of Flashback Episode You Mean, I Don't Like The Ones Where They Flashback To A Scene From Earlier In The Series, But i Do Like The Flashbacks Where They Use A Brand New Scene

i like flashback episodes - even if they use old footage, the episode of Happy Days that uses a flashback to show footage from the Love American Style episode "Love and the Happy Days" was a great idea :)

the exception of course, is when they use flashbacks to do those stupid "clip shoes" - i cant STAND those!! :cuss: :mumble: pissed:

Ok I just remembered that when the Jeffersons did a Flashback Episode, they did show clips of All in the Family so I guess Clips of American Style in a Happy Days Flashback makes sense.

As long as they have a storyline to go along with them...

My favorite flashback was on Mama's Family, when they went back to her 40th birthday. Eunice was funny.

I enjoy flashbacks when they film new footage to take place before the show happened. Like for example, The Golden Girls did this plenty of times, or like the aforementioned Mama's Family, and plenty of others have gone this route too. But I think "clip shows" on the other hand a case of the writers having severe block the week of show so they decide to throw together a "let's have everyone hang out in the living room and throw together 'remember that time when....' and then fade into old episode footage" episode.

I understand clip shows, like Seinfeld or Friends, being done in time for the series finale so fans will look back at the classic moments just once more before the last episode airs, but not as an odd end episode in the middle of the season.

I think South Park did the best "clips show" during season 2. Because instead of the old clips happening the same way as before, they ended up reanimating sequences so oddball things like The Fonz appearing (and yes, Henry Winkler did a voice for the episode) and people handing out ice cream appeared in the episodes, and even a reimagined "Cartman's real father". With that episode, Trey and Matt really put "clip shows" in their place, lol.

I always enjoy flashback episodes. I especially like when they show you what the characters' lives were like before the show started. The Dick Van Dyke Show did that a number of times, showing how Rob and Laura met, got married, had Richie, etc. A lot of times, episodes like that help to explain some of the backstory.

Family Ties did the flashback quite a lot . It seems like every season since season 3 they had one. Thats just too much.

...same characters though, it was neat seeing Richie from a couple of years before Happy Days began - actually played by Howard Cunningham

I don't remember that show. Was Chuck in it?

I don't like clipshows, unless, as John mentioned, they are specials that air before the series finale.

But I do however love when series do flashbacks. The Dick Van Dyke Show perfected them. Seinfeld had a few, and I really enjoyed them, as did Friends and Frasier. And seeing your favorite characters with crazy 80s outfits is hysterical. The flashback episodes of Friends were some of the best.

The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Odd Couple, Everybody Loves Raymond and The King of Queens had the best (IMO).

However, there was a problem with a flashback episode of King of Queens. Richie helped inrtoduce Doug and Carrie. After the actor who played Richie left the show, they did another flashback episode. This one flashbacked to their wedding. Because he was off the show, he didn't appear at the wedding. I know that's a nitpick, but it bugs me.

And The Odd Couple was a great show, but sometimes the flashback episodes contradicted one another.

Flashback episodes gave Dick Van Dyke a chance to show the audience how he would react when his wife is pregnant. Instead of making her pregnant again, they just went back in time.

As for the clip shows kind of flash back, as a kid I enjoyed them. But now I don't. When I watched "Friends" on DVD in order, I'd be upset when they start showing flashbacks.

If it's old footage it's really annoying because you were expecting a new episode and your just getting stuff you've already seen. It also gets boring because it doesn't have a real plot line. They are o.k if all the flashbacks relate well and arn't just what looks like random scenes. I really like episodes that go back in time that you haven't seen before. It shows what the charectors were like in the past which is intreasting to see. I really like friends flashback epsodes.

I love the flashback episodes when they are new stuff. The Golden Girls and Everybody Loves Raymond have done these best I feel. For The Golden Girls, it fit one of the themes of the show, to have them sit around the table with a cheesecake and reminisce. And it gave Estelle Getty a chance to act without all the Sophia make-up. I particularly enjoyed the one where they think back to how they all met. I like the clipshow's on ELR to see what their lives were like before the show, how Debra and Ray first met, their wedding, when their first child was born, when they were talking about where to live and how it should be far away from his parents, etc. Clipshows are just a waste, and both Friends and The Golden Girls are guilty of doing these way to often.

That's my favorite episode of the entire series. The map and the whole "overnight, everday, just right" circles was hysterical.

It depends if I liked flashback episodes. Only if the series is not shown in reruns currently is only when I like flashback episodes. Like I remember with new shows, they wouldn't show past episodes from like 4 years ago, so seeing the old clips bring back memories.

If by flashback you mean clip show, then no.

If by flashback you mean original scenes that take place years before the show started, then yes. The flashback episodes of "Friends" are often the most fondly remembered of that show.

I like when they have flashback episodes because then if you haven't seen the episode that they show in a flashback you can see a little clip of it when they do show it.Family Ties has some flashback episodes. I really like them.
