I was searching the archives recently when I found this post you wrote in 2001:

Do you have any additional information on this story:

"The 1987 murder of a Texas gunsmith (the segment aired early in the 1989-90 season)."

The episode that aired on 9/13/1989 (according to the episode guide anyway) sounds close, except for the fact that the victim was from Florida.

Any thoughts?

To tell you the truth, Justin, I regret to say that I don't have much information on that case. At this point, I can't remember the victim's name. I only saw the segment once, in September of 1989.

Since you mentioned Florida, I could have sworn that the crime actually happened in Florida. That's because I remember that the man's body was found near an area that was infested with alligators (and/or crocodiles). Obviously, if the corpse hadn't been found when it was, it would very likely have been eaten by those reptiles. So I'm guessing that the description of the man being a "Texas" gunsmith was a printing error (unless he had resided in Texas at some point in his life).

I guess the fact that I often look through search engines for links and articles on cases shown on UM shows how much the series means to me. Nevertheless, despite my resourceful nature, finding any links on every single UM case is difficult. But if I should happen upon something related to the gunsmith's 1987 murder, I will let you know.
