"Three's Company" is my favorite show, and I thought many of the guest stars were great! But, I've been wondering why there were never any big guest stars (although some guest stars became famous later). For instance shows like Cheers, Who's the Boss and the Cosby Show had a number of very famous guest stars. It seems that as a number 1 show "Three's Company" should have had the clout to get similar stars. Does anyone have any ideas on this?
Thanks!

Well, they did have Lucille Ball host the "Best of Three's Company" two part episode, and she's, well Lucille Ball!! And then there was my favorite guest star, Jeffrey Tambor. But now that I think of it, you may be right.

Lucille Ball definitely qualifies as a big star...I had forgotten about her guest host gig. Jeffrey Tambor is one of my favorite guest stars, and went on to be very successful (Emmy nomination this year). :) Nonetheless, famous guest stars who played themselves or a character on an episode of Three's Company are basically non-existent...which is weird given how popular the show was!

My guess is that they simply couldn't hire well-known actors/actresses because of the costs...it was probably easier to get unknown names...these people were probably just happy to get their faces on t.v.!
