View Full Version : The Yankees 2005 Season is in Trouble
bschmale1113 07-14-2005, 04:08 PM Yankees place RHP Chien-Ming Wang on 15-day DL
The New York Yankees announced today that they have placed RHP Chien-Ming Wang on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation of the right shoulder (retroactive to July 9th) and purchased the contract of RHP Tim Redding from Triple-A Columbus. To make room on the 40-man roster for Redding, the Yankees designated INF Eric Crozier for assignment.
Wang, 25, is 6-3 with a 3.89 ERA in 13 games (12 starts) with the Yankees this season. He ranks fourth among American-League rookies with his six wins, and ranks fifth with 83.1 IP. He began the season with Triple-A Columbus before being recalled by the Yankees on April 27th. Wang made his Major-League debut on April 30, 2005 vs. Toronto and earned his first Major-League win on May 10th vs. Seattle.
Redding, 27, was acquired by the Yankees with LHP Darrell May on July 2, 2005 from the San Diego Padres in exchange for RHP Paul Quantrill. Redding made one start for Triple-A Columbus on July 7th vs. Norfolk, allowing 6H and 2ER in 5.0IP (0BB, 4K). He pitched in nine games (six starts) with the Padres in 2005, going 0-5 with a 9.10 ERA (30.2IP, 40H, 35R, 30ER, 13BB, 17K, 7HR).
In parts of five Major-League seasons, Redding has a career record of 21-33 with a 5.04 ERA in 100 games (78 starts). In 2004 with Houston, posted a 10-14 record with a 3.68 ERA in 33 games (32 starts). Redding was originally selected by the Houston Astros in the 20th round of the 1997 First-Year Player Draft.
Crozier, 26, was claimed off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays on May 24th and assigned to Double-A Trenton. In 34 games with the Thunder, Crozier was batting .174 (21-for-121) with 3HR and 18RBI. He appeared in 14 games with the Blue Jays in 2004, batting .152 (5-for-33) with 2HR and 4RBI.
Pavan 07-14-2005, 04:19 PM Uh, how is this going to affect the whole season? If you can read, he will be eligible to pitch again on July 24. Which would mean he would miss just 2 starts and Brown and Pavano will return next week.

We'll see about that Bobby F.
Pavan 07-15-2005, 09:55 AM So, who won yesterday? If somebody is done, it is Curt Schilling.
Brian Damage 07-15-2005, 10:16 AM Impressive win for the Yanks last night, however, Tim Redding is pitching for the Yankees tonight. He was like 0-5 with a 9.00 era with the Astros and Padres.

Yeah, I'm not getting my hopes up about tonight's game. I haven't seen Redding pitch, but it doesn't sound too promising. And we've got Randy Johnson going up against the Red Sox best pitcher Saturday and that's not good because Randy has been hot and cold lately and Clement's been on fire this season. On the bright side, the Yankees have been hitting very good lately (especially Giambi) and I hope they can keep it up.

Like I said, they'll win 5 then lose 5. That's been their MO all season. Schilling will alright. Everyone thought he was done last year in the playoffs but we all know how that turned out. :D
Dutabi84 07-15-2005, 12:42 PM I hope they choke the rest of the season. To my understanding, the wildcard spot could be close between them and the Twins.

I think Cleveland's gonna be in contention for it also. They're getting better and better, they just have a bad bullpen right now.

They've won 8 of their last 9, I hardly call that win 5, lose 5. The Yankees lead the majors this season in runs scored and are the only team this season to have scored 13 runs in a single inning (twice). They have the only player in the majors this season (A-Rod) to have 10 RBIs in one game. And despite all of their struggles, are just 2 and half games out of first place in the AL East and the second half of the season just started. I hardly say they're done. C'mon, what else you got to say about my team, Bobby? ;)
Pavan 07-15-2005, 01:58 PM It's down to 1.5 games now.

My bad, I stand corrected. That's even better. Anything I can do Pav to help you fend off all the Yankee haters

I won't have to. You guys will be saying it yourselves when they go on another losing streak. :D Yankee nation will be up in arms many more times again before the season is over.

Blah blah blah, blah blah Blah blah lol

See! It's starting already! ;)
Bobby F. 07-15-2005, 10:18 PM Sox 17 - Yanks 1. Uh-oh.
Dr. Jazz 07-15-2005, 10:20 PM It figures. The same day that I defend my team in this thread, they lose 17 to 1  You win some, you lose some - I still love watching my Yankees battle it out with the Red Sox. As I predicted in this thread earlier today, the new pitcher we used tonight did awful. Oddly enough, the Red Sox beat the Yankees 17 to 1 in May also. There's still two more games in the series this weekend, and they should be interesting as usual.
Brian Damage 07-15-2005, 10:42 PM Believe it or not the season series with the Sox is like 6-6. The problem is, when the Yankees beat the Sox, it is usually by only a couple of runs, but when Boston beats the Yanks, it seems to be blowouts.

Exactly. Tomorrow's game with Johnson against Clement should be a pretty good one. The game could go either way. I just hope we don't see a repeat of tonight anymore this weekend lol

I think the Yankees can beat any pitcher on the Red Sox staff. The only pitcher the Yankees can't beat is Tim Wakefield. The Yankees can't hit knuckle ballers to save their lives.
17-1!!!!
This is not my beautiful team!
;)

Mikado 07-26-2005, 02:09 PM Who cares about baseball anymore? Its not a real sport if the only factor is "The largest payroll wins"...and you can thank the Yankees for THAT....soooo, lets all cheer the Yankees, with a NY tradition, the Bronx Cheer!!! :p :p :p :p :p :p :p:p:p PPBLLLLLTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!
