It is called 'Misconceptions' and will be a mid-season replacement on the WB. I'm going to check it out.

I heard it wasn't very good. What did you think of it?

It was an ok pilot...not great and borderline good.

It starts out with Jane Leeve's daughter celebrating her thirteenth birthday. The girl's name is Hopper. Jane's name is Amanda. Amanda asks Hopper what she wants for her birthday and Hopper says to meet her Dad. Thirteen years earlier, Amanda went to an Ivy league sperm bank and got impregnated by what she thought was a Yale educated surgeon by the name of Dr. Eddie Caprio. When Amanda hunts down this "doctor", he turns out to be a lowlife that lied on his sperm bank resume. Disappointed by her findings, Amanda tells Hopper that her dad is dead. That is until Eddie shows up at her door and reveals to Hopper that he is in fact Hopper's father. It also stars French Stewart as Horace (Amanda's boss I guess) David Anthony Higgins (The fat guy from Malcolm in the Middle) and Brian Klugman (Kirby from Frasier)

French Stewart doesn't play the goofy character he did on 3rd Rock from the Sun. He actually is pretty decent. Klugman aka Kirby stole the show in the pilot.

I doubt either sitcom will last very long (Misconceptions or Modern Men) - The website 'thefutoncritic.com. reviewed Misconceptions and called it 'the worst sitcom pilot this year'. Here is part of the review:

"Like fellow midseason WB prospect "Modern Men," "Misconceptions" feels like a bad early-1990s FOX sitcom magically transported to present day - all of its crapiness fully intact. I just can't get over how lamely telegraphed and painful the "comedy" is in this show. There's just no attempt to dull the edges on the caricatures that inhabit the show: Amanda is cold and haughty, Eddie is a slob and womanizer, oh wait until their worlds collide! She works in a museum! He doesn't shave! She is proper! He is a pig! It's just as bad as you can imagine, and then some. And really folks, can we get a Chicago-based sitcom whose idea of "local color" isn't just that one of the characters likes the Cubs?"

Modern men did not get a good review as well. Every single review for Misconceptions has been extremely negative . I have even read a few blog sites of people who work or have worked in the TV industry and they have wondered how a show like misconceptions was ever made. Here are some of the comments:

"I think anything about a fertility clinic with a cutesy title "misconceptions," "inconceivable" is dead on arrival." So far he has been right about the show inconceivable - it has been axed.

I also love the comment he has on the sitcom 'Living with Fran': "Living With Fran" is still on there (the WB). The idea of having to live with Fran would make me want to hang myself."

and "And as for midseason replacement "Misconceptions"-- I'm not even going to dignify this POS with an insult."

and even someone who had worked for the WB network posted a message on her blog site (titled "HaHaHaHa") "At first, I was thinking I'd have to wage a public relations war against my former employers' television endeavors. Then I thought, nah. I'll just let the futon critic do it for me." with a link to the 'thefutoncritic.com' review of Misconceptions.

and here is a little review from someone who has attended a taping:

"Last Friday evening I went to a TV show taping with a friend and her dorm floor. This was some new mid-season show that will be aired on "The WB" called "Misconceptions" ("The Practice" was being filmed on the same lot) and it stars some lady from "Frasier." Let's just say it's exactly why I don't watch TV. There wasn't a single shred of intelligent humor in there. I mean, must we be crude to be funny?? Can we be creatively funny without having to resort to off-color remarks and push the boundaries to see how much offensive stuff we can put into one show before the TV rating has to go up another notch?? The pilot for this show was a load of crap. I suppose sitcoms usually run along the same lines anyway. But, it was really quite interesting to see how they film a sitcom though. Five freaking hours for 21 minutes of a show!!"

I think the only thing that will save the show is that its on the WB network - if it was on a major network it wouldnt survive two weeks or would have probably never been picked up.

Did you happen to get this from Ebay? I saw it as a listings several weeks ago.

I was about to ask the same question. Hopefully, somebody will upload it as a torrent, because I can't see that show airing in Australia for quite some time, if at all.
