Ugh... I've got a VCR/DVD recorder, have had it since right before Christmas. Sunday Night I was recording when the power surge hit(the recording was lost of course). I've had that happen before, but now when I try to record something to DVD it doesn't work. It acts like it's recording, you stop it, it builds the menu, but it will not playback at all. I have tried and tried with 4 separate things(just little 30 second to 1 minute stuff), and now I'm recording my shows strictly to VHS(which works) because I don't want them not to work either. Any ideas how to fix this??? It's not even 7 months old yet!!

have you tried to "reset" it by leaving it unplugged for a couple of hours?

what is the warranty on it, and where did you buy it?

I will try the unplugging tonight after I go to bed. I did pull it out for about 20 seconds and then back in.

Need to check the warranty... I bought it at Wal-Mart, it's an RCA with +R discs. About $340.

Take my advice. Spend an extra $20 or so on a surge protecter.

Definetly. I lost a TV once to a surge. Not pretty.
