'Simpsons', 'Family Guy' Have Cartoon Feud
Tuesday July 12 10:22 AM ET

"The Simpsons" took a shot at fellow Fox cartoon "Family Guy." So that series' creator is taking a shot right back.

Seth MacFarlane said an episode of "The Simpsons" where a Homer Simpson clone was identified as "Family Guy" dad Peter Griffin was "definitely a slam."

But since the "Family Guy" team dishes out plenty of its own insults, it should be able to take some, MacFarlane told Blender magazine.

"To me, Peter is much more similar to Ralph Kramden than he is to Homer, right down to his voice," he said, referring to the character from "The Honeymooners." "That's what I see. But because `The Simpsons' and `Family Guy' are really the only two shows of their kind of television, there'll be comparisons made."

MacFarlane said he was definitely influenced by "The Simpsons."

"I mean, in its prime, it was one of the greatest comedy shows of all time," he said. "But it's not the show it was. It can't be. You can't do 16 seasons and be consistent."

I have read in many Family Guy related articles that the Simpsons folks do not like Seth MacFarlane and his crew.
MacFarlane has always taken the high road and said nice things about The Simpsons, but hey, if the Simpsons are going to continue to take shots at Family Guy on the show, then what the heck.
Let Stewie deliver a nice long soliioquy on how downright lame the Simpsons has been the past few years.

I'd love to see what Macfarlane has in store for the Simpsons.

I remember another Family Guy dis in a Simpsons episode...

In "The Wandering Juvie" (season 15) where Bart is sent to a Jvenile jail and escapes with a fellow delinquent named Gina (voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellar), Bart and Gina engage in some name calling while in the middle of an argument. One of the "insults" Gina hurls at Bart is "Family Guy!"

Real mature.

Family Guy is far better than Futurama (IMO). I bet part of it is that they're angry that FG and Futurama were both cancelled, and FG had the fanbase strong enough to bring the show back.

FG is certainly better than Simpsons has been in about eight years IMO.

The sad thing is that Futurama was a good series, but for some reason FOX chose to let it die despite the fact that it had Matt Groening's name attached to it; not for nothing FOX, but this guys first show (The Simpsons) basically saved your network - you could have shown it some respect?

well, Fox gave Futurama five years to catch on, and it kept sliding in the ratings. I wouldn't necessarily put it in the same catagory as Firefly or Point Pleasant.

That's true, but Futurama was constantly pre-empted for sports coverage.
It was frustrating to see the show cancelled week after week because the football game ran long.
